Thank you for taking the time and making the effort to tell us this, Jackie.Love,nTo: MSersLife Sent: Thu, March 24, 2011 11:45:47 PMSubject: My accident story.......Re: Jackie...... (was) Re: Akiba......Re:

After dad's funeral [1995] it took about 3 days for the cremation, and for us to make arrangements to have him buried at the Veterans memorial cemetary in Portland. A small number of just family members met there, and we had a goodbye service. I was so exhausted and needed to get my mind off everything so instead of going back to his house filled with friends and relatives, Steve, Tina and I decided to go to the movies. It was dark when we got out, and on our way home the road to our house there was an intersection we had to stop at. No lights just everyone taking turns after stopping. It was our turn and when we got in the middle of the intersection some kid had pulled

out from the other side and stepped on the gas and ran right into us head on. Steve was driving, I was in the passenger side, Tina was in the backseat.

We all had seat belts on, thank goodness. The impact was so loud I had anxiety attacks afterwards every time we drove anywhere for several years. MS had screwed up my sense of perception and it still feels like everyone is speeding but Steve says no, and I still have to have him slow way down before the anxiety lessens. Even now I don't like going out because I can't relax to enjoy the ride. I take a valium to go to the Dr's, as its a 35 min drive one way, and I am so sure someone is going to hit us. I've been in 5 car accidents my whole life, only 1 was my fault, another one when I was pregnant with Tina, knocked me out. The other ones were hit and run, and other people running red lights, etc. I've had several whiplashes and it is thought that may have started the TM in me that progressed to MS.

This last one with the loudest deafening sound the paramedics said if I hadn't had my seat belt on I would have gone through the windshield and died instantly. As it was I had a 4" bruise across my whole lower abdomen from the lap belt, and a 2" bruise up my right breast shoulder to hip where the shoulder belt was. Thats how hard we hit as both belts dug into me. Good thing I had the padding because it could have been much worse. When the ambulance got there, they put me in a neck brace and when my son got there he thought I had broke my neck. He had to be restrained from beating up the guy who hit us. It was just a young kid [he only had a hurt knee] and I felt sorry for him because it was an accident, and here he had a 180 lb guy screaming at him that he had broke his mothers neck. Gotta love those son's who love their mamma's. lol...., then they put the guy who hit us in the ambulance with me, and he

apologized all the way to the hosp. In the meantime my son called my step-mom and told her what had happened with the whole breaking my neck story, and when I got to the hosp. almost all the family was waiting there. Relatives from Oregon, Wa, and Minnesota! They took me right in and ran all kinds of tests, and they found blood in my urine and that was the first ever UTI I'd ever had. I didn't even have any symptoms. Steve was okay as he held on to the steering wheel and it was bent as he tried to stop the van [mini van]. I think his arms and shoulders were sore for a few days. Tina also had a 4" bruise across her lower abdomen. So thats the story. Its the 4th car accident where I could have died. Gods Angels sure have been by my side! :-)

The other 3 almost fatal accidents, were almost getting hit by a train, almost drowning when I fell off my surf board in Fl. [Miami beach] and the wave slapped me to the bottom of the ocean. Good thing tides go out! The third was in a swimming pool when I dove in and hit my head on the bottom and blacked out. Oh yeah another time when I dove in a swimming pool to rescue my friend and she climbed on top of me and we both almost drowned. [i was 14 then, and wasn't trained in saving drowning victims] But I had to try.

I could go on and on about all the situations I've been in that my step-mom says I've lived a life of 3 people. Not all of it was bad though..... :-)

Hugs, Jackie

Yeah, she was ahead of her time lol...

Today would have been my sister's 62nd birthday. So with one thing and another I'm kinda weepy today.

Another icon of our generation has passed. died today. The article said she was 79 and I heard on the radio she died of congestive heart failure. She was such a beauty! As a young teenager I remember reading the movie magazines about her scandals and many husbands. I always think of her in "National Velvet". hugs
