Guest guest
Ooo, how cool! Love those old stones... This- http://www.darkfiber.com/tomb/cemeteries/shoalcreek/ is the cemetery where tons of my mother's " folks " are, waiting for pics... I am wondering who is reading the group? We have our core members who post often but we don't hear from most of the other members on this large group. I am going to do some " housecleaning " on the group. If you are reading the group but are just not posting--please let me know so I can keep you on as a member. I reset some of the bouncing members last week and some others this morning. Hopefully some of those previously bouncing members will respond and let us all know how they are doing and what's going on in their lives! I'm glad for each of you and I hope to see posts from members who have been silent for awhile! hugs to each of you Sharon, group owner ------------------------------------
Guest guest
I've never seen (or never noticed) slot and tab tombs before. After looking at the picture page I hit home and read all about these mysterious gravestones. So your ancestors are from White County, GA. A lot of my ancestors are from and Emanuel Counties in GA. Out of curiosity, I looked up Shoal Creek Baptist Church cemetery on Find A Grave and see there are a lot of s there. (one of my family names). What is your family name there at Shoal Creek?http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gsr & GScid=1976878hugs SharonThis email is a natural hand made product. Guest guest
At Shoal Creek, mostly Browns, some , some Fergusons, Palmers, a few others. Lots of other names at other cemeteries in Hall, Habersham, and Lumpkin couties. (My father's folks are from around Lookout Mountain on the other side of the state.) Do you know, I haven't hit a single yet in my family tree? How weird is that, considering " " is the most prevalent English-speaking name? But then again, I have a long way to go! The little " baby " slot-and-tabs are so sad, aren't they?
