That First Deep Breath after the Transplant

Aloha to all and especially to Kerry,

I will never forget how wonderful that first deep breath was after my

transplant and am sure that Kerry also felt the miracle. I wrote to

my lung coordinator about Kerry and she replied back and let me know

that she will be Kerry's lung coordinator also. I am happy that

Kerry is so strong. They were amazed at me at the hospital (at my

age) that I did so well. My new lung is doing great now but the rest

of my body has not been doing good so I have not been exercising and

realize I need to get back to doing that. But it is very cold here in

the midwest today, and the only place I intend to go today is the

post office and grocery store. The MRI of my abdomen and pancreas on

Dec. 13 showed everything as normal and no mass on my pancrease even

though the CT Scan had showed a mass on the pancreas. Because of the

conflicting reports the doctor is still doing the Endoscopy and

ultrasound and biopsy inside my stomach on the day of Christmas Eve.

Hopefully when he is done it will just be good news to confirm that

everything is normal. However, there is something wrong with my

digestive system; and although I have been losing weight again it is

not a fun way to lose.

My youngest son and 2 oldest grand children where here this weekend

to celebrate Christmas with Jeff and me. I told Loren this weekend

that last week I saw a bald eagle sitting in a field just down the

road as I was driving to the post office. He just called and told me

he was driving the kids to WalMart (to spend their gift cards) and a

bald eagle just flew over his van just down the road from his house.

I joked and said it was probably the one from here that came over to

see him. He has been layed off from his construction work again and

is quite concerned with the economic condition now.
