Hi there. I just felt compelled to respond to your post. I am so sorry that you are having chronic pain. I know what that is like and it is very difficult emmotionally and physically. From your post, I understand that you are having "pain" in the vaginal area. Are you having any other vulvar/vaginal symptoms, like itching, redness, burning, etc.? There are a lot of skin problems that can cause this, but (I believe you said that you are 48) estrogen may benefit your vaginal/vulvar skin tremendously. Many, many, many women on this site and other sites use it. As we age, we lose estrogen and it can effect the vulvogainal skin. You should get Estrace (estradiol) Cream.

Some docs feel that estrace cream applied topically on a weekly basis

doesn't raise blood levels significantly, some women and docs feel

otherwise. Search our archives and files for some articles.

Otherwise...estrace is one of MANY treatments that help. PT has been

a Godsend to me. I've also had chronic yeast (which can be related

to lyme) that I've treated. I had high lyme titers which I treated

with three months of doxy. There are trigger point injections,

physical therapy (PT-I can't say enough about how helpful it was for

me!), oral meds (elavil, neurontin), and rescue pain meds like ultram.

Please look up the book " Pain Free 1-2-3 " by Teitelbaum. It

goes over these treatments for fibro and the doctor says that most of

his patients with vulvodynia have fibro, and the v problems go away

once the fibro is addressed.

Your docs have an ethical duty to help you get well AND to treat your

pain. You may want to request a referral to pain management doctors

if your docs aren't willing to prescribe medications.

I wish you well and I have faith that you will get relief.

I started using compounded estradiol about a year and a half ago. It has made a huge difference in my vaginal skin. Much improved. I'm 51.

i had the terrible pain during intercourse only and was unable to have

penetration for about 5 1/2 years. i used lidocaine, estrace,

steroids, trigger point injections, lubes, yeast meds, bacterial meds,

and tons of other stuff but the only thing that helped me in the

slightest was surgery. Nothing I ever did, helped at all until I had

the surgery 1 year ago and am 99% pain free and never been happier.

Feel free to email me offline if you would like to talk about it.

Best of luck to you!
