Guest guest
I think it really depends also on how much cancer you have. My mom has rectal cancer. They were unable to do surgery before radiation and chemo and were not able to do it after but the radiation helped my mother tremendously. It shrank the tumor, which helped with her discomfort. She did not have horrible side effects at all, in fact she gained 20 lbs while on those 6 1/2 weeks of chemo and radiation. Now she is on Oxal and Avastin and its kicking her ass. So everyone has different results.

Guest guest
I believe anyone has the right to make end of live and medical decisions for themselves. I was Bereavement Coordinator for Hospice - at a time when we had 18 children and granchildren loosing a parent or grandparent - LPS didn't do child grief I also worked nursing homes as social service - every patient that came in I asked the family to decide what the patient would want at the end this same nursing home sent Lila to ER to cover their ass when she wasn't given her dilantin - that night in 2006 they couldn't get her son who had POA - I was still second call - on a Wednesday night they were at church - then a bell went off in my head - I said Lila was DNR why did you send her to ER - the DON wanted to cover our ass ... I talked to her daughter in law the next afternoon - she confirmed it happened every time she didn't get her dilantin - so much for the nursing staff personal choice - no tubes - no machines - no chemo - no radiation - my friends understand and support my choices
