Akiba, you could benefit from being diagnosed with low level diabetes,as your insurance would most likely pay for a glucose tester and thestrips. That way you could keep track of you own blood glucose levelsand adjust your eating pattern according to the readings.I am glad that you saw your doctor--now you be good to you!Love to you and to Robbin,nTo:

Pain still there. JUst got back from the Dr, he gave me some patches for it and told me to take 600 mg ibuprophen every 6 hours, said if that doesn't so it he will go to more aggressive modalities. My labs had come back, my BS was a bit high so he didn't want to put me on steroids (just as well, don't want 'em), he wants to do more labs to make sure I'm not diabetic. They have been going back and forth with me for years, one doc sez I am, the next one sez I ain't. *sigh*. My liver/kidney etc are all good, cholesterol a wee bit high but can'tt43 be too bad since he didn't give me anything for it.

My insurance saved me $761.99 on the meds, BTW...(the patches)

How is everyone doing? Did you have a nice Easter? We had a quiet day, I have been in pretty severe pain, seem to have sprained my neck, the left side, radiating into the collarbone and shoulder, and up into the cheek,,,just very painful. I finally broke down and emailed Rita to see if she had anything for it, all I have is motrin and that wasn't touching it. She had some stuff and brought them over. And I can move my head again! She also brought over some ham, which was great since all I'd been able to manage for dinner was some boiled smoked sausages and some fries. So we did have Easter ham after all

I have often wondered why people celebrate so many Christ-related holidays eating the ONE thing he could never eat....or at least one of the things he could never eat...

Anywhoo, I might actually be able to sleep tonight, last night, not so much...could not get comfortable

Wish I could ship somma those lidocaine patches to Dan to help with HIS pain...they gave me 90 of them!

NO!!! Ice cream has enough fat in it to actually slow down the absorption of sugars. I'm a type I diabetic, you can eat chocolate ice cream to my hearts content… However just a few spoonfuls of oatmeal send me into the for hundreds.

If you want to push up your numbers, think chips, regular Coke, candy and anything else that has high carbohydrates and very little or no fat.That isn't a bad idea if you want to get access to the supplies you need – and getting on a low dose of and I'd like metformin could help keep your pancreas working longer without overtaxing it. In my opinion, metformin is the only oral drug I diabetic should take… The others force your pancreas to produce more and more insulin to to take care of the sugar in your blood. This means that after being on these pills prolong your pancreas dies and you end up on insulin anyway.

I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Bernstein's Diabetes Solution. Even if you don't plan on following his diet suggestions, the amount of useful knowledge that you can find in this book is invaluable.

HHmmm...They had me on Actos years ago (before the last Dr decided I wasn't diabetic after all) and I have heard Actos is being studied for MS...does that do the nasty or is it more like metformin?
