Guest guest
Welcome to our group from a neighbor many, many, many miles south from you!. I'm sorry that you had need to find us, but extremely happy that you did!. I think you will find that you may have just found yourself a new home with tons of people who are great in the support department; have a tremendous amount of knowledge or experience with the MonSter; and even more than a few of us (should we not know the answer to a question) will provide you with a link to finding the answer. This is the most fantastic, lovable, and caring MiSmatched group of people it's been my pleasure to know! I hope that you will feel at home here as well. When you're ready to share, we'll be happy to listen. Until then, it's okay to "lurk" as well (just try not to wait too long, because we are also a semi-nosy group as well... LOL). Until then... Guest guest
Greetings all! Thank you for all of your kind words of welcome! J I am searching for support now as although I do keep a positive attitude there are times when my MS gets to me and I have no one to share my issues with or anyone who can relate to how I am feeling or what I can do next. I have had MS for 16 years now. Considering all, I am doing fairly well. I have no right to complain. Lately though my legs have been feeling REALLY heavy. I wonder if it is all from the stress in my life. I am a single Mom now (for the last 2 yrs) and have a lot in my current home to manage on my own. I sound like I am whining now L I do try and hire others to help me out……… I was on Avonex for 2 years but took myself off it 3 years ago when the prefilled med came along as I had a violent reaction to it. I am patiently waiting for a new oral drug (can’t remember the name of it!) to be approved in Canada. The FDA approved the drug in 2009 and Canada does follow suit but it does take time. I have botx injections (every 1 ½) into my bladder for my spastic bladder resulting in frequent bathroom visits. I highly recommend this to everyone who has the same problem as I did. The botox works amazingly well. That’s it for now as I don’t want to scare you away! Guest guest
Dear Sandy,Don't fret--you won't scare any of us away! It would take A LOT to make that happen.I hadn't heard of botox for spastic bladder. That's good to know. How old are your children? Being a single Mom has got to be a challenge, and no...you're not whining...you should hear ME sometimes! I have 5 kids, and sometimes when my husband is working 5 to 7 days a week, 14 to 18 hours a day, I FEEL like a single mom, but of course have the income and security, so can't feel totally what it's like. 3 of my kids are still in the house. They are: 17, 14 and 11. The 19 and 22 year olds are out of the house.Keep posting and letting us know about yourself.hugs,KateTo: MSersLife Sent: Mon, April 25, 2011 2:23:46 PMSubject: Re: Greetings from Ontario Greetings all! Guest guest
Hi Sandy! You said your legs feel really heavy. Is it hard to walk? I get that at times and I describe it as walking through jello. Every step is an effort and it feels like weights have been added to my legs. Perhaps you are having a flare?I am the creator of this group. I always say I created a group of friends! lol I live in the high mountains in Arizona. We live off grid with our electric power coming for our solar panels and wind generator. I am a mother of two adult children and 8 grandkids ages 7 to 24. I raised my kids as a single mother so I understand your position. It's not easy, is it? How old are your children?hugs SharonThis email is a natural hand made product. Guest guest
My kids are 9, 21 and 26. My oldest just delivered my first grandchild one week ago today. My leg issues might be from the stress worrying about my daughter during her pregnancy. Any suggestions for the heaviness or just time?Take care,Sandy Sender: MSersLife Date: Mon, 25 Apr 2011 15:02:33 -0700 (PDT)To: <MSersLife >ReplyTo: MSersLife Subject: Re: Greetings from Ontario Hi Sandy! Guest guest
Sandy... Oh my girl.. what makes you think you don't have a right to complain??? You most certainly do have the right to complain.. and even whine... anytime you want!!.. First off (first reason).. you're female -- that automatically gives us the right to complain! Secondly.. you're a mother -- that also automatically gives us the right to complain! Thirdly... you're a single parent... even more an automatic right to complain! And last but not least.. you live with the MonSter.. so you most definitely have every right in the world to complain, stomp, scream, slam doors, cry, and whine if you want to.. We'll be right here beside you the whole way!!! <grin>.. You go girl & give'em heck!!!.. I think that you're fantastic managing the house, the kids and everything else.. all the while pushing on through all the chaos you have going right now... My legs seem to get heavier at different times.. evening is especially good for the heaviness.. and if I'm exposed to temperatures over 72 degrees in the summer (got to be between 74 & 76 in the house during the winter though).. Sad part, during the summer, is that by the time I realize that it's too warm for me.. it's also too late, and the legs are heavier.. I did realize that if I've had a restful nights sleep (even with the numerous potty runs during the night) and I start to feel tired (and heavy) enough to take a nap.. it's too hot in the house.. AND if I eat anything with MSG in it (so I don't get to have General T'so anymore, at least not very often).. things that were a bit numb to start with, will get much much worse.. (lately I've actually thought my feet were gone!).. You might be having the same thing going on, with your legs feeling heavier.. if you didn't have the heat sensitivity thing going before.. you might now be starting to experiencing just that.... I've found that.. if I'm at home, soaking my head down, will help alleviate some of the heat sensitivity.. Wouldn't hurt if you could rig something up to wear around your wrists that is cold as well.. or around your neck.. that helps too.. Again.. good to hear from you.. Sorry to hear about the heavy legs thing too.. Hope you star feeling better real soon too... HUGS |)onna (who is off to take a nap, because not sleeping well last night, and her Vicodin -- molar extracted yesterday) is kicking butt this morning..) Greetings all!
