Guest guest
So wait... the medicine marked 'Thyroid' is really Canadian Armour??? I couldn't find any info on that but for some reason, that's what I was taking here, before my pharmacy switched to carrying 'Thyroid' from Qualtest (labs I guess). Excellent progress!! I'm happy for you! Please tell me more about the detox program and what was involved. Test results encouraging Hi all,Well have been back on meds for hypo for about 9 months and I am pleased with what I am seeing, but if you see something that should be addressed please let me know. Brief history for those that is new. Was finally diagnosed several years ago as being hypo but not until I had gained 100lbs (60 in 4 months) and not able to breathe or do anything, beyond exhaustion and getting to the point that if this is life I'm done with it. Glad now that I didn't give up. Also was diagnosed with asthma, and stomach problems and all this ending up with me taking between 10-12 heavy duty meds which included steroids which put on more weight. So quit going to the M.D. and went to naturopath for almost 1 year who had me on a detox program and this got me off all meds. No more asthma, rheumatism reduced, but hypo not helped. So went back to M.D. and these are the results :Test range Jan July SepTsh 0.30-4.70 30.73 1.13.43Ft4 9.1-23.8 5.9 8.010.2Rbs 3.3-7.8 2.4 5.5 4.3Hdl >1.2 1.55 1.10 1.09Ldl no range given 5.26 2.93 2.10B12 >131 527 248 not doneThis is since I started taking Thyroid (Canadian Armour) and stopping the Synthroid that I was on for years and I know that the T4 needs to go higher but at this time it seems to be going in the right direction, so I am willing to be patient. RBS = random blood sugar and mine was so low that according to the doc I should have been passing out and that was caused by not eating enough grain carbs which would keep the levels even. How do I feel?? GREAT, this is the best that I have felt in many, many years and I am hoping that as I get things even more where they should be it will be even better. My doc is finally listening to me and even joking about me going on line to check out the new anti-biotic that I had to get just recently. I hope that this will encourage you all to keep going and try what ever it takes to regain your health and energy, be persistent and know that you are worth the effort it takes to battle with those that think they know how you feel but are not walking in your shoes. Now all I have to do is get fit again lol. Yeh! Right!!!!!!!Keep going it really is worth it. I have only achieved this with the help of all of those that are here and gave me the ability to get my point across by educating me on all that I needed to know. To , , Kathy, Gossimer, Kats(Canada) and others that contributed to my knowledge I am eternally grateful.Dawn in Canada
Guest guest
Hi , That is what it is called in Canada our own home grown product I do believe, so I would not realy know if the same named product in the U.S. is the same. I would certainly ask so that you at least know. As for the detox it was given after a lenghty 2+hour session and with her taking loads of notes and she went home and made the progam just for me. It was herbal with 4-5 different ingedients in each bottle and 3 different bottles of which I took 10 drops of each twice a day. I did that for 3 months and rested for 3 from those but in between times I had another 3 bottles of another load which was for the thyroid for 1 month and the others were for liver, pancreas and other internal organs. I went from having contsipation problems to going 3 times a day and you could tell that there was cleaning going on and it wasn't loose. My asthma cleared up which is amazing as I was on 4 high doses of steroids for that. I no longer need acid reflux stuff and the list goes on. All I take now is Thyroid and supplements and the odd RX for congestion or the like. The last 2 years have been a roller coaster but I feel it is now stabilizing and it is only my fitness and age that I can't do cartwheels. Hope this of help. Guest guest
thanks sooo much!!! I've often done mini detox programs at home, but might just see an ND about them in the future . Guest guest
I am not going to argue with how you feel. Your T4 could come up but remember your body converts T4 to T3 and Desiccated Thyroid contains T3 so you probably feel great because you are getting enough T3. Either through conversion or direct. Your low blood sugar you want to watch though..sometimes what happens is when hypo you are not hungry..or when over weight you put too much of a restriction on what you eat or how much you eat. With your metabolism going back to normal you need to bring the energy you get from food back to normal too.. The Canadian Diabetes society has a web site with lots of information on diabetes but also on diet and complex carbs that you can search through for some simple ideas to add to your diet..that and no skipping meals. I am glad to hear you are feeling so much better. Kats3boys

I couldn't find any info on that but for some reason, that's what I was taking here, before my pharmacy switched to carrying 'Thyroid' from Qualtest (labs I guess). No, Canada does not have Armour. The prescription equivalent is called Dessicated Thyroid..or Thyroid. It is not the same as the Thyroid products found in the states. Dessicated Thyroid like Armour has been around forever so by the time the laws changed here regarding brands/generics..laws regarding medications in general Desiccated Thyroid kept the name, although it is shorted to Thyroid. Guest guest
I don't know about Qualtest, but in Canada 'Thyroid' (desiccated thyroid) is made by 'Erfa Canada'. I don't know why the manufacturer didn't give it some sort of name other than 'Thyroid', it can be very confusing. Check out the site, there's a lot of great general/prescribing information that would pertain to Armour as well... Guest guest
Hi Kats3boys, Thanks for that info. I was at the docs yesterday for another part of the physical that I am finally getting and he looked at the t4 and it was again at 8.1 so he upped my meds from 90mg to 120mg or from 1.5 grains to 2 grains. I did have a good look at the RBS and I don't understand why it is low as I'm eating " bread " carbs again. Maybe I'm having a conversion to sugar problem so will check out that site to see what they have. Thanks a lot Dawn in Canada > > I am not going to argue with how you feel. Guest guest
Dawn, that is good news. The important thing is that YOU ARE FEELING GOOD!!! I wish I could say the same, but I'm getting there. All this kidney stone stuff has thrown me for a loop and I don't know what I did to start causing them like this. I'm now under doctor's orders to drink 2 glasses of lemonade a day fresh or from concentrate. Well, the concentrates all have HFCS in them, so that's out. I just bought me a big bottle of lemon juice and will make my own from that. I did buy a bottle of Simply Lemonade brand that is just lemon juice and sugar that tastes pretty good. I'm just not a big lemonade fan.dawn prince wrote: Hi all,Well have been back on meds for hypo for about 9 months and I am pleased with what I am seeing, but if you see something that should be addressed please let me know. Guest guest
Qualitest is a generic brand of Armour available here in the US. I started on it when I first started taking the natural. I couldn't find any info on that but for some reason, that's what I was taking here, before my pharmacy switched to carrying 'Thyroid' from Qualtest (labs I guess). Excellent progress!! I'm happy for you! Please tell me more about the detox program and what was involved. Guest guest
I'll have to check my local Kroger then. ) I actually like the Simply Lemonade brand. I've been drinking it at Cracker Barrel since I'm there almost daily. My hubby works there. ) I don't really like their lemonade though. Re: Test results encouraging Dawn, that is good news. I'm just not a big lemonade fan.dawn prince <dwnprince (AT) yahoo (DOT) com> wrote: Hi all,Well have been back on meds for hypo for about 9 months and I am pleased with what I am seeing, but if you see something that should be addressed please let me know. Guest guest
I forgot all about the lemonade. Before moving, I had started squeezing 1 lemon and 1 lime into a quart of water and then drinking a glass with lunch and dinner and sometimes inbetween. For the life of me I can't remember why, but I must have read something. I'm going to start that again, thanks. I just juiced the fruit and added water and kept it in the fridge. I didn't find it hard to drink at all as it wasn't very concentrated. I could add stevia if I needed it sweeter, but it's sort of refreshing... Judy I'm now under doctor's orders to drink 2 glasses of lemonade a day fresh or from concentrate. Access over 1 million songs - Yahoo! Music Unlimited Try it today. Guest guest
Hi Kathy, Have you tried honey instead of sugar? I found that it gives it a mellower taste. You could also look on line to see what it is that is causing the stones, I have a niggly thing at the back of my mind and I should know but it wont come to the front. Did I see that you are moving? What is happening? Will feel lots better once I get rid of this cough that I got from that flu thing, but even with this I am still better than I used to be when I thought that it would be easier to crawl in a corner and give up. You take care now. Guest guest
All have 38 mcgs of T4 and 9 mcgs of T3, and some of them are produced in the same place as Armour is and in the same way, except for fillers. Are you saying that these other dessicated thyroid products don't have the same proportions of both of these thyroid hormones in them? Did I not pick up on something here that was said earlier? Qualitest and others do have the same amts of these hormones in them. Re: Test results encouraging >> So wait... the medicine marked 'Thyroid' is really Canadian > Armour??? Guest guest
Are your kidney stones formed from calcium oxylate? This is the most common thing they're made of, either from poor/wrong turnover of calcium or from not ever drinking enough water (not other liquids, but pure water). Kidney stones are also formed when there is kidney infection present. Re: Test results encouraging Dawn, that is good news. The important thing is that YOU ARE FEELING GOOD!!!
