Study participants with reduced levels of vitamin D had increased arterial stiffness and vascular function impairment. However, among those whose vitamin D levels were normalized over a six month period, vascular health improved and blood pressure measurements declined. Science Newsline Reports: "The results add to evidence that lack of vitamin D can lead to impaired vascular health, contributing to high blood pressure and the risk of cardiovascular disease." In related news, researchers have also found that high level of vitamin D could be protective against the development of early age-related macular degeneration (AMD), a leading cause of vision loss in adults. In women younger than 75, those who had 25-hydroxyvitamin D concentrations lower than 38 nanomoles per liter were more likely to have age-related macular degeneration than women with concentrations greater than 38 nanomoles per liter. ~*~Hugs~*~ ~*~Akiba~*~ Pragmatic Visionary http://www.affiliates-natural-salt-lamps.com/pages/156.php

Guest guest
Hi,..I take 1000 units of D3 a day. Probably should bump it up to 2000, but before I do I want to make sure I need it. D3 is the one I was told that the body assimilates better than D2, so you have to be careful. You can get D toxicity if you take too much. My levels are way below normal, so I was prescribed a really high dose of the D2, but my Dr. was okay with me taking the D3 at a lower dose instead. My concerns are for those that have normal D levels will start taking high doses of it because of the studies that say it does this and that. It might be a good idea to get tested first. IMHO! Guest guest
My numbers were 12, and I think normal is 30. My son was 9. With the Dercums its not unusual to be D deficient. I also had rickets when I was a baby which is caused by low D. My grandma gave me a tsp of Cod Liver Oil in fresh squeezed orange juice nightly. I really liked it THEN! LOL Now if I don't take the D3 [i get mine from iHerb, Now brand, 1000 IU's, my bones hurt, especially the long bones.
