Hi Fred,

I currently have a thread going on not sleeping, too. I can tell you what I

know, not that I have been able to sleep yet! But that said, taking HC totally

changes your cortisol rythm, so that yes, if you have had high cortisol, then

once you start taking HC, if you take high enough doses in the AM to reduce your

ACTH sufficiently, your nighttime cortisol will lower -- and you will sleep.

But also what can happen is that since your ACTH is now lowered, you might not

make ENOUGH cortisol to stay asleep, either! It's very confusing, unfortunately,

to know which is the problem -- too high at night from not taking enough HC in

the day or too little at night from taking enough HC in the day. I suspect it's

very individual depending on YOUR own HPA axis system and state of adrenals.

But it sounds like you're falling in the category where your cortisol at night

is too high since a higher AM dose makes you sleep better. I don't think I would

take the MAJORITY of your HC in the AM as that is not a good dosing schedule.

But to get that night cortisol lower, yes, absolutely, you can take 900 mg PS. I

think that is actually a recommended dose. I don't know how long it takes to

work, though.

For being hungry at night, it is suggested to eat fat/protein before going to

bed.

I am currently in the experimenting process with all of this myself as, although

I neve sleep well, mine has also gotten worse since recently increasing my total

HC dose. But everything else got better, so I'm hanging in there.

wake up at 1am and can't sleep anymore. But I'm very tired in the morning and

could sleep during the day time actually.

something like 9am 15mg-12am 15mg and small doses the rest of the day, since men

need higher dose of cortisol than women.

Please let us know how it goes. It helps others to learn.

I think I will also be doing the 5 HC bedtime experiment tonight, or maybe 2.5

at bed and another 2.5 in middle of night.
