Yeah me too, seems like lack of D is very common now. Not sure in the Southern states, but here in the PNW, and areas that don't get enough sun exposure, or people who use a lot of sun screen are experiencing low D. I read too that if you can get about 20-30 mins of sun exposure a day it amounts to 20,000 IU's of D. But they recommend doing it before noon. And it has to be on bare skin. Thats what I've read about it. :-)

I haven't been tested, but my cousin who lives in Phoenix just tested low on Vit. D. It seems that someone in Phoenix should get enough Vit D, doesn't it? So I guess being from a southwestern state doesn't mean we get enough D. hugs SharonThis email is a natural hand made product. I suppose there are exceptions because the articles I've read said that because of the use of sun screens the skin can't absorb the D from the sun. Plus some people might not be able to assimilate certain vitamins. [i.e. I can't take B6 as it makes me really sick]

My Dr. told me everything goes thru the liver and if your liver isn't functioning properly then the body isn't absorbing properly. Thats why I can't take full doses of pain meds.

So I don't think it is a hard fast rule that those who live with more sunshine probably don't have a D deficiency. A lot of variables. Sorry if my statement was confusing. I still think people need to get tested tho. :-)
