Medic Alert Bracelet

Is there something more discrete I could use to communicate this information in

case of an emergency, such as a wallet card? Where is the next place EMTs would

look if someone doesn't have a medic alert bracelet? I'm not downplaying the

seriousness of my conditions, but just wondering what the next best thing would

be to having an ID bracelet. As far as a letter, I know my husband doesn't

understand what I'm taking and why, but I think I will still try to have this

information posted somewhere in our house so that he can refer to it if

something would happen.

Also, when describing what I would need in an emergency, how much, and why, I

need some help getting the correct info down:

HC- Do I ask for a specific amount of HC, like 100mg IV and is it

hydrocortisone, or Solu Cortef, or something else that they will go by? Is it

just because my adrenals will " crash " if I don't continue taking it, especially

in an emergency when I would need a lot more?

T3- How do I ask for this from a hospital/ambulance? Would they just use what I

have in my purse and administer that to me? Would I need extra in an emergency

situation? And, what is the word " myxedema " or something that people are using

to describe the coma that I could end up in if I would suddenly stop taking T-3

meds?

Thanks in advance for all your help with this.

Amy,

I will answer part of the question. EMTs, at least where we are, look in the

refrigerator. I had a magnetic tube to hold the paper. I put it on an easily

visible spot.

There are several small items, necklaces, and such.
