Hi Jo,

Thanks for your comments! I hope you don't mind me chiming in here but my myxedema is also withering away. I can actually pinch skin now. It's been a little over a year since I met Val and began listening to her advice. Today I am doing so well and feel better than I have in years. I never realized I had the mxyedema until I joined this group but it is slowly disappearing daily!! I'm also losing weight!

Val,My facial/body myxedema had become worse since I took oregano oil caps.I had tried all sorts of products but nothing helped. The only thingthat helped was a bee sting(face)! It took about 3 weeks until I noticed anything different. My facialskin isn't as thick as it was. I even started to lose some weight1!I thought this information may be helpful to those in the group.Jo S.

Hi Cindy,

It's great that your myxedema is going away.

Do you mind if I ask how you accomplished this?

Good luck!

Hi Jo,

To answer your question, I have been on T3 only for a little over and year. Ever since I met Val through her group. I had weak adrenals and have been on HC for the past two years. I have slowly weaned off the HC too. A few months back I felt that my adrenals had recovered and started to wean. All of the other areas that Val specifies are in line....the ferritin, B-12, Vit D, sodium, potassium. So I can only assume that with everything in good condition that Val recommends, and the fact that my adrenals were able to recover with HC and I am on T3 ONLY for the RT3 problem that everything has come together to help me heal. I could not have done this without Val's help!! I feel I am so blessed to have been brought to her group!! A few years back I felt as though I would never recover and today I can tell you that I am almost back to

normal. I don't think I even realized I had the myxedema until I joined Val's group, but is it has slowly gone away with time. I have also tried to lose weight for quite some time with NO results whatsoever and now when I watch my diet and reduce the portion/calories I have been able to drop my weight thus far by 20 pounds. Yay!!!

Hope this helps!

Hi Cindy,

Losing twenty pounds is great!

I hope you continue to do well!

i just found out that I have Lyme disease and 3 co-infections. I think this may be the

underlying cause of my thyroid problems.

Thanks again for the information.

Hi, Cindy...  Is myxedema when you seem to have fluid " stuck " all over?  Just wondering if this is what's going on with me.  My forearms especially get all " dented " whenever I first get up - sheet marks all dented in my arms - and also whenever I hold my purse on my arm by the strap - the strap marks dent all over my arm and stays for a LONG time.  It just looks all " puffy " - and my eyelids are puffy, face looks puffy.  Just fluid all over I think...

Hi Jacki,

I believe that's what it is described as....I read Dr. Mark Starr's book and that's when I realized that I had it. It is described in his book how almost every person that was hypo had a puffy globby fatty appearance and he could not pinch a small bit of their skin...only a large pinch. I had this. I could try to pinch a small area of skin say on my arms or legs and all I could get was a hard large pinch of skin. Now I can actually pinch a teeny tiny piece of my skin. It's like all of the swelling or fat pockets are gone and my skin is back to normal. It's a good book, has pictures of before and after treatment of people with hypothyroid problems. My daughter is more severe than myself and they way you describe yourself is how her skin appears to me. She is extremely puffy and her skin appears very thick, sort of how mine was before but she is much larger

than myself as well. Her face is very puffy and in Dr. Starr's book that is how these people looked. I hope I made sense. I don't know alot about it but just know that now that I have been on T3 only for quite some time I definitely had it for years, but it is also gone now. Just have to continue to work on my sweet daughter and get her's diminished.

cindy,

:)great to hear your story and that you can help your daughter too

just curious if the myxedema of low thyroid is different than the puffy, water

retention from aldosterone and cortisol issues?

what were the signs indicating to wean off the hc?

i am not optimized on my thyroid yet, and i get those imprints sometimes too,

but its always so hard to tell if stuff is thyroid or adrenal related or a

combo.

Thanks is.

Gosh, I have no idea about whether the swelling and puffiness from Hypo is the same as what is caused from low aldosterone or cortisol issues. I'm sorry but I really have no idea. I just knew after reading the book that I did have myxedema and that I have noticed over time on T3 only and healing my adrenals that it is gone. I wish I could help you more but I just have no idea.

I think my situation is different than most as far as knowing when to wean off HC. I kept having problems with my temps dropping when I took my HC. Just the opposite of what I thought should happen.. You know normally when the adrenals are stressed and one takes their T3 dose it can cause a temp drop. Well mine was the opposite...everytime I dosed my HC the temps dropped so I slowly started weaning 2.5 every 3-4 days and my adrenals must have kicked in. You know it is all connected. Dose the adrenals and dose the thyroid and everything will should start working together. They help each other heal from what Val says. I know what you mean though. I struggled with trying to figure out which direction to head as far as adrenal or thyroid but with trial and error you will find the answers.

Hope this helped,

Cindy

Thanks, Cindy!  I do actually have that book and just haven't read it yet so I'll pull it out!  So glad to hear yours resolved!  Gives me some hope...  Also, best wishes in getting your daughter's worked out :)
