My father's family sadly I know little about, he was the second youngest of 15 children and by the time I was born some of my aunts and uncles had already died. I was born in Wisconsin, moved to Chicago when i was 1, lived in the midwest area until I was 38 years old.I am Irish and German. Just diagnosed in July, but think I have been hypo for quite some time. At least 10 years. I would bet my late mother and grandmother were hypo. Am pretty certain my sister is hypo, although her tests keep coming back "normal". I like to "manage" things, and take charge at times when others "can't cope". Funerals, etc...My huge stresses came in April 2001 when i was hospitalized for (Arbol) viral spinal meningitis with encephalitis, a month latermy mother (and best friend in the world) passed away. Family issues with the will, etc... so have no contact with family other than my kids and husband. Less than a year later we sold our home and moved across the country to AZ to start a business that failed. Moved to LV penniless, took terrible low pay high stress jobs, spent a weekend ($12,000) in the hospital and was diagnosed with pneumonia which led to asthma (huge signs of Hypo? Ya think?) Finally got back on our feet a little and found good work in CA, we now live in San Diego, which I am finding is NOT stress free California living. A lot of people I meet are just mean and self centered. So, although things have gotten better, there is till stress. Probably more than you need for your chart, but it is what it is. I find I am much less judgmental of people now. I used to think my asthma meds made me heavy, so for a time wondered, hmmm, how many people are heavy because of the meds they take? Now my question is... how many are on meds because they are hypo? Jackie Female of English/Irish descent - diagnosed at 26 years of age but symptoms began year before during my first pregnancy.  (Was Hashi's but no one used that term with me - I was woefully ignorent then - when they sent me in for RAI and I just thought it was another thyroid test) I am from the Midwest - my mother is from Tennessee - and it is her side that I acquired this autoimmune disease from I am hypo - now my sister is hypo with lupus my grandmother obviously had a goiter my aunt, her daughter, and one of her son's have thyroid issues - daughter had the bulging eyes of Grave's I have black hair, dark brown eyes, and my hair began to turn grey at the age of 16. I am a worrier - and a take charge of the situation person - the first to graduate from college in my family (several times)  - married a drug addicted alcholic which led to the very fun divorse - had/have nasty in-laws, etc. (these are my stressors) Is that enough for the chart?  Do you need more? jen R. www.myspace.com/jordanreimermusic

My cousin is taking the stuff that has sterioids in it for his asthma. When he was bullriding, he was nice and slim, after he stopped that, he really puffed up. He's got pretty much the same background that I have. The stress he's got is pretty much self induced unfortunately. But he's young and he'll get it figured out. I don't believe he's got any thyroid issues tho. SpiffKen & Jackie Reimer wrote: I was born in Wisconsin, moved to Chicago when i was 1, lived in the
