Guest guest
>based on these results obviously i need more meds... agreed, either a lot more natural or a decent amount of T3 >.she has approved of me taking cytomel if i want or increasing the NT...any advice.. Increasing natural to around the 3 to 5 grain area MIGHT work, if your FT3 comes up without the RT3 coming up with it then you will be OK T3 only WILL co it but you will need to take it 4 or 5 times a day, in my view a small price for feeling well. Your choice which way you go. >.oh and she wants me to take iron again and get my ferritin up..is my ferritin high enough at this point to add more meds?? > Ferritin is high enough to start increasing but you need more iron to cope with a full dose so supplement that as well Sounds like you've got a good Dr Nick -- for more information on RT3 and Thyroid Resistance go to www.thyroid-rt3.com
Guest guest
ferritin...56 ng/ml (10-220) FT3....2.4 pg/ml (2.3-4.2) FT4...0.64 ng/dl (0.73-1.95) Low TSH....0.2 UIU /ml (0.3-5.1) Low RT3....215 pg/ml (90-350) based on these results obviously i need more meds....she has approved of me taking cytomel if i want or increasing the NT...any advice...oh and she wants me to take iron again and get my ferritin up..is my ferritin high enough at this point to add more meds?? Hi Dawn, Yes she is definitely right in wanting you to take some iron. Have a look here lots of us are getting good results with these http://www.iherb.com/Bluebonnet-Nutrition-Chelated-Iron-90-Vcaps/11571?at=0 Your ferritin level may well be ok, but the thing to look out for is really bad anxiety. This will mean your ferritn levels aren't quite high enough. But unfortunately It will be a case of trying it and going very slowly and carefully, keeping a watchful eye on temps and pulse Good iron levels are needed in order to help the T3 enter the cells but T3 also helps your body hold onto iron. So its a bit of a vicious cycle sometimes As mentioned above ferritin helps the thyroid hormone to be properly utilized into the cells so what happens when you have slightly too low levels of ferritin the T3 won't be able to get into the cells as easily so it pools in the blood and you will get a fast pulse and anxiety. Best thing to do is get started on iron supps asap and see how you go Good luck Josie With a FT3/RT3 ratio of 2400 Get a new e-mail account with Hotmail - Free. Sign-up now. Guest guest
> > Hi Dawn, I just wanted to ask if your Dr was concerned that both your Ft4 and TSH were below normal? My son was just tested and had the same low FT4 and TSH and the primary Dr said that was OK. I did some research and learned it was not ok. If the TSH is low the FT4 should be high and vice versa. I called and got lucky an Endocrinologist from Moffit Hospital answered and wasn't busy. I asked him if I should be worried about these lab results, he asked if my son is having headaches, which he does 3-4 times a week. He said it could be a pituitary tumor and to make an appointment with him. You can also have a cortisol problem or central hypothyroid. More tests are going to need to be done to see as they didn't even run a FT3. > > > > can someone comment on my results... > > i am currently only on 1 grain NT....i also take isocort 3 at 9 am, 3 at 1 pm, and 2 at 4 pm...per vals recommendation based on my last saliva cortisol.. > > ferritin...56 ng/ml (10-220) > > FT3....2.4 pg/ml (2.3-4.2) > > FT4...0.64 ng/dl (0.73-1.95) Low > > TSH....0.2 UIU /ml (0.3-5.1) Low > > RT3....215 pg/ml (90-350) > > based on these results obviously i need more meds....she has approved of me taking cytomel if i want or increasing the NT...any advice...oh and she wants me to take iron again and get my ferritin up..is my ferritin high enough at this point to add more meds?? > > thanks... >

Guest guest
she was not worried...only pointed out that with my low tsh if that was all we were looking at we would think me hyper but with low free numbers obviously that is not the case with me.. i think for me the reason my tsh was low was because i was on a too low of a dose of NT (1 grain) that was enough to suppress my tsh but not enough to boost my FT4....might have been different if i was not on any meds at that time.... so for me i need to take more meds instead of just taking enough to suppress my own thyroid!! i need to decide whether to take T3 or more NT...not sure what to do....hope you figure it out with your son!
