I was taking HC with little to no food and I had a scope done last summer that showed corrosion of the duodenal bulb (almost an ulcer). This is strong stuff....please eat food or drink milk, yogurt, etc. with the pill. Or if you can, change over to cream like I did. Now my stomach is completely healed...thank God! Guest guest
I've been taking my HC sublingually. I'm assuming that this is okay, and won't hurt the stomach, since it is not passing thru the liver. Any comments? Lexie

Guest guest
Hi Joann, I would like to know more about these troches b/c, first I don't know what a troche is , and, more importantly, I need to give my GI a break from the constant assault of having to digest all of the HC that I have to take and I have not been able to count on the consistency of creams. I have a good compounding pharmacy to use too. Have you found the dose that you get from the troches to be consistent with what you got from the pills (if you ever took pills)? Did you get your doc to prescribe them or are you doing it on your own - I was able to get my pharmacist to compound cream for me w/out a prescription but it wasn't cheap and it ended up not being as effective as the store bought cream with all of the bad inactive ingredients. How much HC do you take/day this way? Thanks, > > Hi Lexie - I take mine sublingually and haven't had any problems. Guest guest
Hi - a troche is a square piece of gelatin that is flavored with HC in it (a little bit softer than a gummy bear). I currently take 20 mgs a day and yes, it is doctor prescribed. My dosing is kind of weird because each square has 5 mgs in it and I split them in 2 and put half under my tongue at a time. I use more in the morning than in the afternoon. I usually take my last dose between 5 and 6 pm. I think the smaller dosing throughout the day is better for me. I can feel when the last dose is wearing off and then I pop another under my tongue. My husband watches me take these and thinks I'm crazy but it helps me make it through the day so whatever it takes. I'm also on compounded SRT3 which is also was better for me. I think it's easier on the adrenals so I would also recommend these. I'm still too chicken to try armour again. I never tried the pills but when I was on a lower dose of HC (10 mgs) I tried isocort to increase my HC and felt funny after taking it. I also had to use some HC cream last week when I didn't get my RX in the mail in time due to the snow storm in Wisconsin (so much for getting mail through snow, sleet, rain etc!) I definitely felt very low on HC after trying the cream. I was glad I only had to dose 2 times this way. I think that answered all of your questions. FYI: This is the ingredient list on the label: Hydrocortisone, silica gel, stevia, acesulfame-K, gum arabic, flavor, lime oil, gelatin The compounding pharmacy I use is www.mdcustomrx.com in Glendale, WI. I highly recommend them. I wish I had the energy to go back to school to become a pharmacist like that. It seems like a lot more interesting work than counting pills. Maybe some day the brain fog and fatigue will be gone and I can do this! I've been following your progress and I'm sorry you are having problems getting your meds regulated. Before starting on the HC and SRT3 I had all the sleep issues you had but never took any sleep meds because I'm just too scared of prescriptions. Fortunately I didn't have the stomach issues. I've been consistently getting a good night's sleep when I go to bed when I should. Take it slow and hopefully you will find your sweet spot. I've been working on this for over a year so I can appreciate your frustration! Hope this helps! Guest guest
Thanks Joann and thanks for the encouragement. I take 10mgs 2x/day and then 7.5mg, 5mg and 2.5mg. Could I split them to accomodate those doses? It sounds like I could. I'm going to call my compounding pharmacy tomorrow and fax my doctor's office to see if he will prescribe them. > > Hi - a troche is a square piece of gelatin that is flavored > with HC in it (a little bit softer than a gummy bear). Guest guest
I'm sure you could, they could make them 10mg/square and then you could 1/2 and 1/4 them for whatever dose you need. Mine have a line right down the center so I have a template to cut from. Sometimes I just rip them apart although that is not as precise. Good luck! I will cross my fingers for you!
