Guest guest
Hi Carol, Kristy Chelle I have to jump in here..Why am i not on the slopes? I caught a nasty upper respiratory infection an so i'm sitting in the hotel, looking out the window at the mountain and watching the skiers...***whimper** By the way, any Barry White or Rocky Balboa fans can call me on the phone to listen to my voice!*LOL* The most accurate true methode is xray measurement. The most common method is measuring ASIS to medial maleolus. These are the two bony prominences on the front of the pelvic and the bones on the inside of the ankle. The problem is, if the pelvis is rotated (which it frequently is)the measurement is bogus. Unfortunately, this can cause all sorts of trouble when doing pre-admission measurements for total hips or knee replcements. If the measure incorrectly and then choose a prosthesis based on the bogus measurement, the the patient is stuck with the wrong sized limb. NOT A GOOD THING!!! Guest guest
Tom, We were wating for you to come back to check in with the list but I'm sorry to hear that you have an upper respiratory infection going on. I've had one of those before and they aren't fun at all. So if I'm understanding correctly the measurement for determining how short a leg is should come from an x-ray and not the use of a measuring tape? Now you are going to make me wonder and have to ask my podiatrist just how they are supposed to measure legs to find out how short one is over the other. Especially now that he said I have to wear the orthotics (very irritated about as well).
