Guest guest
I had the same problem. But I kept trying with all of them. In retrospect I think they were chewing most of the time instead of sucking. They could not get enough milk and I was suffering from the pain of my sore breasts. When they sucked on the right breast, the left one would hurt and vice-versa. But my breasts became huge when the milk came in and I think the swelling damaged the tissues. After the birth of my daughter's third child she had to stay in the hospital for a couple of weeks because of excessive bleeding and pain from her tubal ligation. She would express the milk and send it home so her hubby could feed the baby. The baby would not drink the expressed milk. They tried every nipple on the market with no luck. Once when I was babysitting I tasted the milk from the bottle and it tasted terrible. I told her and she quit doing it and switched to formula. But later when she came home she went back to breast-feeding and the baby would take it from the breast but not from a bottle. Ora > Another area that was hard for me was breast-feeding. I tried both times with everything in me to successfully nurse my boys...and it just did NOT work out. I felt like a failure! Even pumping regularly I could only get 1.5 ounces from both breasts combined. Neither one of my boys seemed to be able to latch on correctly and first time around I ended up cracked and bleeding. I knew it wasn't working when the milk looked 'pink', no joke. *sigh* ~Chelle
Guest guest
I was lucky. I had pretty great breastfeeding experiences after the initial soreness, and I did it for a long time. There was something really special about my girls being able to verbalize to me in their toddler ways how much they loved nursing, those wonderful smiles I got. I really feel for women who really wanted to and ran into big problems or small ones that became big because of lack of support and help. Sometimes it just doesn't work out. I'm glad it did for me. I'm really hoping all that breastmilk will grow my children into adults whose systems can avoid my various ills - IC, vulvodynia, thyroid disease... Re: Re: Birth - --> was Ora/Surgeons...
