I am in a TN flare! It is so awful that I called my neuro to see if there is a med he could add to my neurontin and lamictal. The pain is so bad that my face is spasm-um-ing (don't know how to spell that word, if is even a word!) I am getting zings and zaps in my forehead, eye, cheek and jaw. It's incredibly bad. Haven't felt this bad in years. I think the weather might have something to do with it. We've had rain here since late Sunday. It's 57 out, but feels so raw and heavy. I think the barometric pressure is going wonky. Send some good thoughts my neuro calls me back soon with a solution!love to all,Kate

There are 3 branches to the Trigeminal Nerve, which is the 5th cranial nerve. (Hence the name Tri-geminal). There are as follows: ocular (the eye), maxillary (the sinus/cheek area) and the mandibular (jaw and teeth). When I get strikes in all 3 areas I'm about ready to jump off a bridge! It's still bad today, Sharon. I think you wrote this on Wednesday, but it's Thursday today, and I'm still 'under attack'! I took an oxycodone last night, and it took the edge off, but already this a.m. I am getting zings. Thank you for asking, Sharon. I don't want to get hooked on the pain med, but I don't know what else to do, before the baclofen starts to work. What would YOU do? I know you'd take prednisone, but what if you didn't have that at your disposal...?love,KateFrom: Sharon

It's 57 out, but feels so raw and heavy. funny you should say that kate~ for some reason I have a pkg of prednisone, a bottle of celebrex, a small bottle of valium, and just got rid of a bottle of pain meds the gave me for my elbow that I cannot remember the name of that I think starts with a z...bill engval uses that in a skit with his bahama mama's and his pain meds for surgery he had just before going on vacation. anyways, I didn't use it cause it dried me out. vicodin I think it was! funny the road we have to travel to retrieve something! am lucky haven't had to use the wrong word like some of you have mentioned...just have blank spots that I have to track down...sometimes hours later! so anyways, I'm loaded with stuff but don't take it because of my own fears. However, did try the valium to see if it would relax the spasms at

my collar/throat, which was nope, the dope didn't do it. oh well. suppose if I had a pad time of it again I would go for one of the other's though~ there is only so much one can stand! Sure hope it stops soon kate!DeeTo: MSersLife Sent: Thu, May 19, 2011 7:23:43 AMSubject: Re: TN/ MS brain needs help

It's really bad.Love to you Akiba, n and the rest of the crewTo:

If I didn't have any predisone at my disposal I would try to get some. lol I do have some emergency pain pills (vicodan) that I could take. But I would really try to get the prednisone. Prednisone works for me--it knocks the TN pain/zings/zaps back to something I can stand and then it eases off...... sending you love and understanding!
