Guest guest
Hi Sue, I am so sorry for not getting back to you on this question. Have had family in town, and my baby girl is turning 6 tomorrow, so I've been running around crazy! Anyway, I personally chose to do hyperbaric with my son because after we got our daignosis of autism, I just dove into research mode and ONLY read books about kids who had recovered. I did not want to reinvent the wheel, so I planned to take the top 5 therapies that most families had done that proved most successful in improving their children. In my research, that was GF/CF diet (most actually SCD), detoxification or chelation therapy, Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy, AIT (Auditory Integrative Training), and of course ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis). And so that's what I did, and I have to say it worked. I did not need a SPECT scan to show me that there was oxidative stress, nor do I advocate others to get a SPECT scan due to the fact that it is a type of radiation being directed at the very area we need to heal, the brain. I am attaching an article on this as well. In my opinion, if language is not present at an age appropriate level, and other signs of neurological malfunction are being presented, then I assume strongly that oxidative stress is one of the primary reasons due to the inlammatory response it causes. Because if oxygen, nutrients, and hydration were getting to those areas, then the organs would be functioning much more appropriately. The article about the dangers of SPECT scans is here: http://www.healthyplace.com/adhd/adders/danger-of-using-spect-scan-to-diagnose-adhd/menu-id-1591/ Much more information can be obtained at www.hbotreatment.com , then clicking on "conditions", then on the applicable condition as they are alphabetized. Hope that helps. Again, that's just my opinion, but if there is even a possibility of a shark being in the swimming pool, well hey I'm not letting my kid get in there.Let me know if I can answer any further questions concerning mHBOT sessions as well as rental or purchase of chambers. God Bless, Wanda Glemaud, CNC, Dip DSC Re: HBOT Sharing or renting mayo clinic does a good job: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/spect-scan/MY00233 basically my dr explained that he recommends doing it before HBOT because it will indicate if there's oxygen deficiency in the brain - i believe he said frontal lobe is most often showing signs in autistic patients. he said by doing this first i would then know what i'm trying to acheive with HBOT and if he didn't see oxygen deficieny he wouldn't recommend HBOT. I'm trying to find out if anyone has done this - maybe a better question is to ask what prompted any of the parents to try HBOT and how are they going to measure the effectiveness thanks! > > what is a spect scan? >
