Guest guest
You must be so proud of your kids, nne! Way to go mom!! My kids always had household chores to do and did their old laundry by the time they were 10. We hung clothes on the line and they learned to do it right. (I'm a tad OCD about the clothes being hung out right:) Both my son and daughter were working by they time they were 16. Before 16 my daughter babysat and my son was already helping his uncle in the cactus business. My grandkids have regular household chores too. Their mom is at work all day and I can't do it all so they must help out. They clean the living room, parlor, bathroom, kitchen and laundry room every day. I do the dishes every day and do some of the cooking--I'm not totally lazy:)Kids are like adults--we are all happier if we have a purpose in life.hugs SharonThis email is a natural hand made product. My kids when they were young all had to make their own beds, on weekends they each had a job to do in the house and each week it was different. The boys mowed lawns and did handyman work for a neighbor and one of them washed dishes along with his sister, at the local VFW on Sat. Our daughter baby sat and washed the dishes at the VFW. Those jobs they picked out on their own. Plus the boys were in the Boy Scouts, at ages 16 and 17 joined the local volunteer ambulance and fire dept. Before they turned 18 each of them made the rank of Eagle Scout which is the highest a Boy Scout can get. All 3 were Students of the Year in high school at their vocational school they attend for 1/2 day as part of their regular schooling. One son in electronics, one son for auto mechanics, and our daughter was for office work. Can't remember the exact wording for hers. Our 7 almost 8 yr old granddaughter surprises Daddy and cleans the house a lot of Fridays and surprises him when he gets home from shopping. Granted she may not do the job of an adult but she does pretty dang good. The only thing he has ever required of her was to keep her room clean. When they visit here, she goes under the kitchen cabinet and looks for the duster and comes out and dusts! Not that its dusty cause I clean ever week but she loves to do it :-)My mother was an alcoholic and I did a lot of the house work. By age 9 In was ironing my fathers shirts. When you are 9 yrs old ironing a size 17 1/2 shirt seemed like ironing a king size bed sheet! LOL I would also do some of the cleaning. Guest guest
OCD about laundry on the line outside??? LOL.. yup.. towels have to be hung a certain way, and from the largest to the smallest... all the underwear in the same direction.. yup.. been there, done that.. quit hanging clothes on the line when they were stained and there might be a chance that my mother would stop by and see them (even though NOBODY else could see them unless they walked into my back yard -- quite embarrassing the day I decided I wanted no tan lines on my back... so with the backyard being totally out of sight of anyone anywhere I took off my top.. only to have my brother-in-law, who happened to be a Baptist Minister, walk around the corner of my house!) I got the laundry OCD from my mother.. same with curtain and window blinds all having to be on the same angle.. But the funniest story she ever told was when she and my aunt hung laundry out together.. and my dad & uncle both wore the same brand & same size of undies.. and my aunt exclaimed.. "How are we ever going to tell who the underwear belonged to -- aunt was every bit as anal as my mother about whiteness of whites -- and my mother walked over to the underwear on the line, turned the "pouch" inside out and showed my aunt exactly how!... My mother was even more anal than my aunt.. My mother would turn that "pouch" inside out and clean out the fuzz/lint that would collect there!.. Unfortunately, after my mother told me that story.. I HAD to start doing the same!! As for my kids working at 16.. nnnnn.. nope.. but that would have been my own fault.. Rule #1 in the house.. you don't get a driver's license until you've got a job to pay the increase in the auto insurance.. though I was willing to take them around and put in the applications and get them to interviews and get them back and forth to work until they did earn their license.. The boys just decided they didn't need to drive.. they had enough friends that had parents who didn't mind that huge jump in insurance premiums.. and gave their kids their money & the cars.. so the boys didn't HAVE to drive to get where they wanted to go Earl was 22 before he got his license & Bud was 27 when he got his.. doesn't mean that they weren't driving before then.. they just weren't driving MY cars.. [sidebar -- I'm listening/watching the live trial of Casey ... defense just slipped one right on by the State's Attorney without objection -- they asked the witness if he had any information about the day Caylee drowned -- cause of death was never proven by forensics but defense contends that she did in fact drown, and then the dysfunction of the family set in... thus causing all this ruckus] HUGS |)onna You must be so proud of your kids, nne!
