Guest guest
How long does something like that take you to design? do you use a program? or do it by hand...do you sew them as well? Interesting Stuff. I like to hand quilt blankets with machine for main assembly but haven't ever really done any embroidery due to the focus it takes which I lack. Guest guest
That one's taken about a month, it wouldn't do what I wanted it to at the start... :-D My designs are based on historic examples, mostly blackwork embroidery (from the 16th century) but also some eastern European/Middle Eastern folk embroideries and museum pieces (when you're bored, check out Practical Blackwork!). I did everything by pencil and graph paper until I " broke my eyeball " , as one of the grandkids says, then Himself bought me a charting program so I can enlarge things enough to see them! I still ( so far) do my own model stitching, since that way I can make immediate changes to anything I've mischarted... And funnily enough, I find I don't have the patience/focus for QUILTING! :-D T in WY Practical Blackwork Designs http://practicalblackwork.com http://practical-blackwork.blogspot.com " You get a wonderful view from the point of no return... Guest guest
looked up the site~ not much into pillows but did like the embroidery on the clothing items. very intricate accurate work. my quilts are a bit more utilitarian rather than the artistic that your items are. I'm working on an auburn tigers (college football) quilt at the moment. taking me forever which is funny because I don't work work. so how is it that you 'broke' your eye? thankfully I haven't traveled that road but reading glasses are just about a must for menus, rx, and even my cell phone lol. very new experience for me. ugh.To: MSersLife Sent: Thu, May 26, 2011 1:49:11 AMSubject: RE: Sneak peek at my new embroidery design - the wedding sampler! :-D That one's taken about a month, it wouldn't do what I wanted it to at the start... :-D My designs are based on historic examples, mostly blackwork embroidery (from the 16th century) but also some eastern European/Middle Eastern folk embroideries and museum pieces (when you're bored, check out Practical Blackwork!). Guest guest
I'm in 11th-century Burgundy, genealogically-speaking. ;-) Always been a nightowl, though I'm up now past when I WANTED to go to bed, but am finishing out a line of research... Also waiting for a little thunderstorm to go away, so I can take my pre-bed soak without getting struck by lightning! Guest guest
Haven't made any pillows, the dogs just chew 'em... :-D Have used some covers from museums as inspiration, though! Oh, wait, maybe you mean the pincushions, etc! I slipped in the shower, didn't fall but came to a " whiplash " kind of stop - shredded the retina in my right eye to the point that reconstruction took lasering, freezing, stitching, a " scleral band " (argh I have a foreign object in my head!!!) and possibly arc-welding to save any vision at all - I'm legally blind in that eye now, but I CAN see enough to keep depth perception, etc. I wouldn't recommend the whole experience, but I tell everybody this - any sudden vision changes, flashes of light, increase in " floaters " , dark areas, get thee instantly to an eye doctor! Any vision they can save is worth it! And now I'm to the point I can't think straight, time for nighty-night - or at least my library book! Guest guest
wow, that is quite an adventure~ how long ago was that? you seem to deal with it well at this point. My husband lost the lower part of his rt leg to an injury with 2 weeks of debreeding to try and save. That was when he was in his mid twenties about 20 years ago. He too is an inspiration on attitude about the path that took him. Keeps me honest lol.
