" Re: Sneak peek at my new embroidery design - the wedding sampler! :-D wow, that is quite an adventure~ how long ago was that? you seem to deal with it well at this point. My husband lost the lower part of his rt leg to an injury with 2 weeks of debreeding to try and save. That was when he was in his mid twenties about 20 years ago. He too is an inspiration on attitude about the path that took him. Keeps me honest lol.

Guest guest
Oh, I like this.. too bad I can't do the fancy things anymore.. for some reason.. fingertip feeling is a huge part of being able to do that stuff.. at least for me.. Guest guest
The whole thing is just counted straight or cross stitches, Donna, nothing fancy at all! Though I bet people can fancy it up a LOT, with beads and so on... Gotta get the " alphabet " for it charted so folks can put the right names, and then get a model stitched for the pattern photography. Then I'll have 3 dozen patterns in print! Whoda thunk it?!? Guest guest
Thanks! Every time I finish a new design, I worry I won't think of something else. At least if NOW I don't think of something else (though several " something elses " are already on the idea board) 36 is a decent number... :-D T in WY Practical Blackwork Designs http://practicalblackwork.com http://practical-blackwork.blogspot.com " You get a wonderful view from the point of no return... Guest guest
I used to do counted cross stitch.. loved doing that..always wanted the "footprints" one, but never had the patience to finish that one.. though I did manage to finish a beautiful & very large one for my mother once.. but can't remember what it was now.. I also used to crochet.. and do plastic canvas.. I remember the year I made a whole bunch of Christmas Tree decorations from the plastic canvas.. everybody got one with their name on it too.. Gee... how come I don't remember being that domesticated now? lol.. And just how do you keep so focused? Maybe I have too many interests.. mightcouldbe HUGS |)onna The whole thing is just counted straight or cross stitches, Donna, nothing fancy at all! Guest guest
That would explain it.. could also explain why I never get all my music categorized.. keep working on the "best" way to make it all uniform... get part way through it.. and then forget why the last way was the best way.. and how am I going to know which one I've done..and which I haven't, and then how do I mark them to know that I've done this or that or any combination thereof... eventually play myself trying to get the "Perfect" System down pat, and give up and take a nap.. LOL HUGS |)onna The focused part is easy - OCD. ;-D T in WY Practical Blackwork Designs http://practicalblackwork.com http://practical-blackwork.blogspot.com "You get a wonderful view from the point of no return..." Guest guest
is really talented isn't she? I got too frustrated trying to design anything except a few smalls like Christmas ornies. And she's right, plain counted xs is related to OCD . My problem was getting involved with specialty stitches and samplers. One of which is in my UFO pile *unfinished objects* because I was stitching it over one thread on 40-ct linen. See we even have our own language! SEX (stash enhancement),etc. My problem is I've SABLE or "stash acquired beyond life expectancy". Very true considering I stopped the 4-8 hr stitching nights when the ms hit again in 2008. I have an Ott lamp with a magnifier and that helps a lot. And with a new baby coming I'm going to have to get out of my slump and stitch another Christmas stocking .... hugs, Cait I used to do counted cross stitch.. loved doing that..always wanted the "footprints" one, but never had the patience to finish that one.. though I did manage to finish a beautiful & very large one for my mother once.. but can't remember what it was now..
