Guest guest
I don't think we've discussed his theory much if at all.. I think that it's going to take a bit more research and proof that the Vascular Surgery thing is actually something that will work for everyone with MS.. I do know that I've read that some have had much success with having it done.. I'm pretty sure that I've also read, somewhere that it doesn't do a thing for most of us.. and is being put down like some of the really long time ago theories of things like copper wiring in a house causing the MS symptoms.. (tons of MSers had their houses completely rewired, and then found it didn't change a thing).. and ADA still refusing to admit that the Mercury in the Amalgam fillings in our teeth could be, if not causing MS, making some cases worse as more and more Mercury leeches into our systems from our teeth.. [which is the major reason my teeth are the mess that they are.. I refuse to have any more amalgam put in my mouth... just in case].. People have traveled to Mexico to have their amalgam fillings removed and replaced with Composite.. AND have had improvement in their MS symptoms.. some more than others.. Unfortunately those of us on the East coast don't have really easy access to dentists in Mexico.. There have been, over the years, been so many theories about what is causing MS.. some of them sound.. some of them not so sound.. My dad called to tell me about the front page article in a local newspaper a few years back.. Guess there's some lady a town or two from me that uses Bee Sting Therapy... and claims to have been cured by this therapy.. AND they are using 'Honey Bees' for this Therapy (wonder if that's not what made someone wake up one morning and say.. Hey.. let's try Bird Poison on MS patients and see what it does. thus the discovery that Ampyra helps us walk better, further & faster... My dad suggested I call the lady and ask where she gets her bees from, and then I should try this.. I said.. "Uhhh.. dad... don't you remember all those trips to the doctor for a shot when I'd get stung by a bee and most of the time it would bring on the blood poisoning/red streak thing.. On top of my foot swelling to at least double it's normal size when I'd step on one of those little critters in my bare feet... heaven forbid that I walked in the yard with my white socks on.. cause instead of my feet swelling.. it was my rear!.. or could possibly be both.. get my butt beat AFTER dad removed the stinger! <grin> Pretty sure the jury is still out on the Vascular Surgery thing though.. and I'm pretty darned sure that this would have to be footed entirely from pocket, cause insurance companies won't usually pay for that and won't until it's approved by the FDA, which could take years & years of study.. there was a guy, somewhere SWUS that opted for the stem cell transplant.. would sure lke to find his site again.. but he had to pay, out of pockeet, for his treatments.. Hugs 0onna Nobody seemed to have a comment on this theory...perhaps you've all discussed it already? I searched the message archives but the only thing that came up as discussed much was the vitamin D. I was actually wondering if any of you invested in the book to read up on what their theory entailed. My neuro hadn't even heard of this individual nor the alternate theory focusing on vascular problems...which is strange because he is suppose to be quite involved in ms research. so, any thoughts or opinions? on the book or the theory? thanks! Guest guest
wow Donna, you have got a really intellectual handle on things! I am impressed...and somewhat naive~ I too have lots of fillings from the 70's-80's being born in mid 60's. so my fillings are just plugged full of that stuff...and I just had one put in with it last year~ that and too many xrays topped with reports of this/that bad for your health can make a person want to just throw in the towel sometimes. Bird poison, really? My mom said 'why would they want to wipe out a bunch of birds?' which isn't the point mama! thank you for sharing your research and thoughts, very good things to hear when I'm still early in my ms so to speak...2003 spring so 8 years. what area do you live in again Donna? Guest guest
Oh Dee, I've always been "book smart -- common sense dumb" somehow I figured out how to learn common sense.. though sometimes I still find myself lacking in that area.. But I've always loved reading.. and it doesn't matter what the reading material is.. I'll read it all.. used to take the Family Medical Book (big red book) or Encyclopedias with me to the bathroom when everyone else took newspapers or magazines.. LOL And I didn't find the information about the amalgam fillings.. that info came from a dear friend & my MS mentor when he was telling me about all the things, like the copper wiring, that MS was being blamed on long before 2000... so of course.. I had to look that up.. Oh, and the why of killing a bunch of birds.. They used the fampridine (which is not exactly what Ampyra is currently -- Fampridine was compounded with something in it's early stages of research.. and has since been renamed.. Dalfampridine) to rid certain areas of pigeon populations.. and possibly the fear of some disease being spread or something because of the amount of bird droppings because of the population.. And I've always (all but the 5 years in Connecticut) lived in Southwestern Pennsylvania. HUGS |)onna wow Donna, you have got a really intellectual handle on things!
