Calcium and iron both bind thyrodi in the gut so they do not release it

to go into the bkood stream. BUT taking T3 sublingually bypasses most

the gut absorbtion isues;.

If you take it sublingually it doesn't matter when you eat or take vitamins. Though I think cytomel is much easier absorbed than the others so food doesnt effect it as much. I think Iron and Calcium can bind it so it doesn't work.

Thank you, Kitty.I didn't know you could take Cytomel Sublingually... and I've heard you're supposed to take Cytomel on an empty stomach, is that right? And also... why is it that we can't take calcium or iron with Cytomel? Is it that it won't be absorbed? You mentioned the stomach... I thought it was just a question of absorption of cytomel....Thanks,>> You can take the cytomel 1 hour before the vitamin or take the cytomel sublingual. Then you don't have to worry about the stomach> > Kitty> > > > > ________________________________> > To: RT3_T3 > Sent: Mon, June 14, 2010 4:37:16 PM> Subject: Vitamins and Cytomel> > Â > Hello everyone,> > Right now I am on 50 mcg of Synthroid and 5 mcg of Cytomel, 2x/day (in other words... 10mcg Cytomel). My doc recently gave the ok to go up to 5mcg more of Cytomel. This is great and frustrating to me at the same time... frustrating because this 3rd time of day I plan to take my Cytomel is when I want to take my vitamin... and the instructions on my Cytomel clearly state not to take it within 4 hours of any vitamin.> > I talked about this vitamin predicament with my doctor and she explained to me that it's not the multivitamin in general that is the concern with taking it near Cytomel dosing... but anything with calcium or Iron.> > I can find a vitamin without Iron no problem... but I cannot find

anything with less than 450 mcg Calcium (which is actually dicalcium phosphate... dunno if that's any different than regular calcium).> > Can anyone please advise as to if this calcium thing is legit or if it's bunk? I really want to be back on my vitamin!!!!> > Thanks,> > >
