Guest guest
Sharon, that fire is being discussed all over all the major news channels and stationsthis week-end. I do so hope that your family will remain safe!Love and very gentle (non-MS) hugs,nTo: Group <mserslife >Sent: Sun, June 5, 2011 11:22:07 AMSubject: burning eyes today-- & update I have some chronic optic neuritis type eye pain and now the heavy smoke is making my eyes burn. Yikes! The smoke is pretty thick and has been since early this morning. My daughter-in-law is upset because she wanted to plant the garden today. The smoke is so thick she can't stay outside long enough. The fire has grown to 144,500 acres over night. Yesterday morning the fire changed course and headed away from us toward the town on Springerville. Then in the early evening I heard from some folks on the ridge over from us and they said were choking from the smoke. Apparently the fire changed course again back toward us. I need to make myself get up and go do breakfast dishes. I'm also going to put on a pot of pinto beans to cook all day. Tonight we will have bean burros, cheese enchiladas and tostados. That's my kind of meal:) My grandkids have been asking for a cake of some sort but I don't know what I have for a cake. I guess I need look through the pantry:) Maybe I'll make some knox gelatin instead. I have some good juice to flavor it with.Tomorrow is my oldest brother's birthday. He lives near Nikolaevsk, Alaska. He will be 73. I doubt I will ever see him again because it is too pricey to fly to Alaska and he doesn't leave home because he has to be there to take care of his sled dogs, horses and goats. His wife is the one who goes on trips to the lower 48 to see her family. I like her a lot but I'm glad she doesn't come visit me! lol That's the cranky old hermit coming out in me:) Nikolaevsk is a Russian village about 5 miles from where we lived in Alaska. Here are some links to this neat little village:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nikolaevsk,_Alaskahttp://www.russiangiftsnina.com/photos.htmlWhat I really want is a chocolate bar. lol Sometimes I just NEED chocolate! hugsSharonThis email is a natural hand made product. Guest guest
Thanks n. I was just listening to the the update on the radio and there have been more evacuations. A major highway is closed. A friend of mine lives in Pie Town, NM and they are trapped there now unless they go north to I-40 at Gallup, NM or south to Safford, AZ. I listen to the radio all day long for the local updates. We don't have local TV here because the closest TV stations are in Phoenix. love SharonThis email is a natural hand made product.
