My child has always been prone to the most awful chests, especially

in winter (adrenal fatigue at such a young age...). She's just

turned five. When she was three she was referred to the local

hospital for it, and the reason I'm telling you this is because I

told them I was concerned about the amount of paracetmaol she was

having - all that coughing, especially at night, was painful for her,

and she was often maxed out on paracetamol & nurofen. They said that

as long as she didn't have more than the max dose, it would be fine,

that some children had to be on painkillers long term and they had no

adverse effects.

My thinking is that there *may* be effects, but they are likely to be

subtle and you probably need the pain relief more than you need to

worry about the long term effects.

I'd just like to add, I have some liver issues, high and borderline high

liver enzymes, and have been told never to take acetomimophen because it

is so hard on the liver, one of the worst, I was told.

No big loss, because it was a total washout as a pain reliever for me.
