Guest guest
Sharon, You sound REALLY busy; no wonder. As usual, you have the biggest of hearts, and such a wonderful, giving spirit. Everyone who knows you is blessed. Especially those folks whom you are helping, and especially our MSers Family.Keep in touch as time allows. If we don't hear from you, we won't panic; just know thatyou are busy helping.Love you my friend,KateTo: MSersLife Sent: Wed, June 8, 2011 5:27:07 PMSubject: my fire update: Re: Sharon...how are the fires today? I am so worried about you guys! Oh Akiba, thank you for asking. It's really bad! The fire is now 389,000 acres burned. Can you believe that? Horrible, destructive fire. Yesterday afternoon they evacuated part of Eagar. That is in addition to all the other evacuations that already have happened. There are pre-evacuations ordered for Springerville, the rest of Eagar and for Luna New Mexico. I am taking information from all the people who are offering shelter for evacuees and their animals. It's so wonderful to see how many people are coming forward! A friend of mine took in 8 alpacas, cats, dogs, turkeys and chickens. She is overrun:) I have been on the phone with the Red Cross to coordinate these efforts. Now I am also getting donations of animal food to the people who need it for sheltered animals. Check this one out! I have also heard from a woman who is evacuated from Nutrioso Arizona. Her situation is unique. She was hosting a family reunion starting on the 14th. She hasn't seen her children and grandchildren in a long while. She said she especially needed to be with them now after all that has happened. I have made arrangements for them all to go to a cabin in the pines in an area far away from the fire! So I'm doing everything from making lists, finding shelter, getting animal feed donations--to acting as a travel agent! lololMy family and I are all fine. The smoke is mostly gone from here. We have a good friend in the Phoenix are who checks on us several times a day. He has a huge truck and trailer and he is ready to come move us out, he says:) hugs to each of you- -I haven't forgotten you... just busy is all. SharonThis email is a natural hand made product. Guest guest
The fire is about 45 miles from us I think. Perhaps more. I have heard conflicting reports of the size of the fire today. One news outlet says 400,000 acres but the official site has too much traffic and I can't get it to open. Yesterday afternoon they evacuated Springerville and the rest of Eagar. The reports are the fire was burning in the towns of Eagar and Greer but there is no official reports. I listened to the press briefing on the radio last night at 9 p.m. The wind is supposed to calm down today and for the next week so that is excellent news. The really good news is they finally have a 747 tanker there today to drop slurry. The 747 can drop the equivalent of 8 regular tankers at a time. We are excited about that! I wonder why the heck they didn't get it here sooner??? I have to say I am disappointed in the response from the forest service so far. After our governor signed the Emergency Declaration a few days ago we are getting more "attention". I need to go call an evacuated family of 6--two adults and 4 teenagers. They have a borrowed place to live but I hear they need food for themselves and their farm animals. So I'll talk to them and see what they need and try to find someone who can help them. big hugs to you Akiba and to all.Pray for RAIN! SharonThis email is a natural hand made product.
