The elavil is for the nerve pain.  And thank goodness I have relatively good seizure control coverage through anti convulsants.The doctors do know all the meds I'm taking, and I am getting monitored carefully.

I'm sorry you're having such a hard time Tina. I'm a little confused about

the meds you're on. Is the elavil supposed to be for the fibro or

depression? I'm doubting the latter since it's such an old choice and

wouldn't be a strong enough dose.

Do all you doctors know what meds you're taking and one, at least,

monitoring you regularly. I also have fibro and at times I'm confused

whether the pain is from that or the ms. I have found a tens machine helps

a bit and acupuncture a lot! If you have coverage for that which I don't,

give it a try.

And speak your mind when you see the dr ... it's your body and you who is

experiencing the discomfort. I know it can be hard when you're so

frustrated and feel lousy but you have to.

amitriptyline ? butalbital

(acetaminophen/butalbital/caffeine)

MONITOR: Tricyclic antidepressants may counteract the anticonvulsive effects

of barbiturates by lowering the seizure threshold. Barbiturates may decrease

the serum levels and effects of tricyclic antidepressants by induction of

hepatic metabolism. In addition, the respiratory-depressant effects of both

agents may be increased due to additive pharmacologic effects.

MANAGEMENT: If the barbiturate is being taken for a seizure disorder,

patients should be closely monitored for loss of seizure control. Dose

adjustments may be required. Monitoring for clinical evidence of additive

toxicity and for clinical and/or laboratory evidence of reduced

antidepressant effect is also advisable
