Our middle daughter objected to going on a service project organized by oursynagogue. Then she found out that most of her best friends were going!(one can question this as the proper motive), but she did go, and got A+sfor the essays she wrote on what they did when she returned to school thenext autumn!GOOOOO! Kids!Love, to you and to all the kids, KatenTo: MSersLife Sent: Fri, June 17, 2011 1:10:48 PMSubject: Re: just checking in... -reply-

Thank you for your vote of confidence, n! I pray you are right. I think the first 3 or so days might be dicey for him, but if he can stick it out that long, I think he'll be okay. My daughter is STILL digging in her heels, but I'm gonna pull them outta the mud!Love you,KateTo: MSersLife Sent: Fri, June 17, 2011 3:36:17 PMSubject: Re: just checking in... -reply-

can do it! One of our kids, who has cystic fibrosis, as do I, lasted an entire month at a horse camp in Montana! (one phone call)--pre-internet era!Love, and I do hope that your daughter does go on that Missionary journey,nTo: MSersLife Sent: Fri, June 17, 2011

Hope everyone is fine. It sounds like weather/fires are the 'hot topic', as well as what's for dinner.

I'm still in my computer training class; finishing up Excel, about to start PowerPoint next week. Pretty interesting stuff. Learning how to make column and pi charts. Very cool.

Had a blast at my nephew's wedding this past Sunday....Getting ready to get up to camp a week from tomorrow (already!). Please pray for him (and me), as we have NEVER been apart for more than a week or so--when I was in the psych unit a few years ago. 7 wks is a long time. Especially with only 2 phone calls the whole time; a 2 day visit, however, emails every night if we wish. I'm going to miss him as much as he is going to miss me. I just hope and pray that he will give it a chance and not throw in the towel right away.

My daughter, , 14, is giving me the hardest time! I had signed her up for a Mission trip at our church--they're going by RVs to Tennessee to do some sort of mission work there. Should be TONS of fun, work, yes, but fun just the same. She claims I never 'asked' her whether or not she wanted to go...the MS brain has no recollection whatsoever of the entire asking vs non-asking... Anyway. She is partially paid for, and whether or not she goes, I will have to pay her full price. If she goes, it will be cheaper, as the church is underwriting it, however, if she doesn't go, I'm responsible for the entire thing! It's a lot of money.

I told her, if she doesn't go, no cell phone, laptop or friends for the entire week. I feel like she is wavering ever so slightly. Please pray on this for me; I really need it right now. My husband is flipping out about this as well.

Also...remember Munchkin...well, taking care of her has pretty much gone out the window as far as the kids are concerned. They'll walk her around the block once or twice a day, but there is rarely any playing with her. My husband is also enraged about that...SO, life is hectic and a bit nuts...Hope no one is overwhelmed with the length of this email.

Please stay well everyone!

love,

Kate

As I just wrote to nne, I think I finally convinced her. She still think her life just sucks, and she hates it and everyone also.On a separate note, she is asking that her dad NOT come to her 8th grade graduation. Said something like, if he comes, then I'm not going! Lots of drama for a very hormonal 14 year old! Not sure I can get through it all. Coming down the home stretch, 2 out of the house, 3 to go. That sounds bad; like I don't want them around. I am just ready to give them that nudge out to see if they can fly. First 2 did, and are still 'doing', and now I have to see what happens with the next ones!I understand they have tutors ($50/hr, which in NY is not bad at all) up at the camp is going to. Although he is going in to 6th grade, he never

learned his multiplication tables; I think he will be severely compromised going in to middle school without that knowledge. SO, I'm thinking of having him tutored 1 to 2x/ wk. Couldn't hurt! Might even help!love to you my friend,as always,KateTo: MSersLife Sent: Fri, June 17, 2011 4:15:34 PMSubject: Re: just checking in... -reply, again
