Guest guest
I wrote some time back about the day that my friend who has MS,Edna, her son and I had with a mutual friend, Ducky Lucas ()a rather delightful and child-like last day--as it turned out--together.Ducky had terminal liver cancer.Shortly after our great child-like adventure on the carousel, the steamtrains, the Lawrence Hall of Science (during which I pushed Ducky inmy wheelchair, which served as a sort of walker for me), Ducky diedpeacefully with her favorite step-daughter (daughter of her deceasedhusband's first marriage) with her as she was "eased out."The daughter had phoned me when Ducky died--about a week afterI posted, and I had neglected to inform all of you that Ducky had passedpeacefully. So, now Edna and I are back to our usual tricks, and my offer to buya used car from a friend of a friend has been accepted--the womanneeds the car until about mid-August. Edna and I should be backto "jaunting" and reporting on the wildlife (and human life) of the Bay Area and of Berkeley by the end of August! The "new" car is a used Mazda with stick shift; I rather think, that giventhe hills and dales of Berkeley and San Francisco, as well as of theElk country in Marin County, that I shall name the new little guy:"Sir Edmund Hilary," as he shall have to carry our combined weightup and down so many hills!I do so look foreward--much as we shall miss Ducky--to our jauntingaround once again in my gas-guzzling "wheelchair"Love to each of you,n, who rather imagines herself to be an automobile--I dream that I am driving! Now, if only someone would pay me to do those"Techron" commercials for Chevron gasoline stations!P.S. I know; I referred to myself in "3d person" again--was morefashionable in my day than the practice is now. . . .M.~
