Guest guest
His birthday was the 13th, the big 55... and I DID order it before, but there was a shipping delay. And then I had a heart attack when the UPS boy came, because the outer box was smushed on one side - made the driver stand there while I opened the whole thing. Thankfully the only damage was to the outer box!! And I surely will - IF HE EVER DRAGS HIS HAPPY_SAPPY FANNY HOME TO SEE IT ARGH ARGH ARGH ARGH!!!! ;-D T in WY Practical Blackwork Designs http://practicalblackwork.com http://practical-blackwork.blogspot.com " You get a wonderful view from the point of no return... Guest guest
I know what you mean about "interesting" gift wrapping, I gift wrapped one for for her birthday a few weeks ago... Expect to be listening to that guitar mornings and evenings and weekends now. I know I sure get to ... (not a problem, though, I find it quite nice and kind of cosy with playing). You said something about your pinky fingers not working, is that an MS thing? And, if you don't mind me asking, what do you mean about them not working? Reason I ask is that has had problems with weakness in her hands, especially in her left hand (and she is left handed), in the last neuro check-up they did find a weakening of her left side (which only confirmed what she was only suspecting up till then). But the last few weeks of playing the guitar every day has actually helped strengthening her hands (including her left one), she was really happy when she noticed. Maybe something to think about? You could borrow Himself's guitar when he's at work, perhaps?love/Reb>> Himself's birthday/Father's day present got here (almost a week late!)> and I've got it all wrapped and waiting - now somebody make him hurry up and> get home!!!!!! > He's always picked out tools or stuff he NEEDS, but this time I went> "behind his back" and got him something he WANTS - he's talked for years> about wanting to learn to play the guitar, and so I got him a nice> classical, and now I'm bouncing around in impatience for him to come home> and see it!> Wrapping it was "interesting", BTW... :-D> > > Hurryhurryhurryhurryhurry!> > in WY > Practical Blackwork Designs > http://practicalblackwork.com> http://practical-blackwork.blogspot.com > > "You get a wonderful view from the point of no return...">

Guest guest
Does play already, or is she just learning? had a guitar (acoustic) for a short time long long ago, but he doesn't read music yet... The pinkie thing is genetic - both pinkies are shorter than usual, so they never " touch " anything - last time I had to get my hand exrayed, I noticed that the bones in them are almost transparent, just from disuse! My mom's were the same, and her father's, who knows how far back it goes. Made playing the piano interesting, I'll tell you! I did play mandolin (badly) for awhile, but I had to twist my wrist painfully in order to use the pinkie. (And you have no idea how badly I want to play Himself's guitar!) Still, there are " pinkieless " things - I play the tinwhistle and harp, and am plotting to lay my hands on a hammered dulcimer, If they have one at the music store today, I might even try out the feasibility of a 3/4 sized classical guitar, might fit my hands better... in WY Practical Blackwork Designs http://practicalblackwork.com http://practical-blackwork.blogspot.com " You get a wonderful view from the point of no return... I'm not much help in the " learning to read music " dept - like reading words, I somehow taught myself the basics when I was about 6 (with old shape-note hymnals and my grandma's reed organ!) and I have trouble grasping how to explain it to someone else, sigh... Guest guest
! I used to play an antique pump organ by use of old hymnals too. Guest guest
played guitar for a short while when she was a kid, but she don't remember much of what she learned then, so in reality she is just learning. She has a book, that came with a CD. And I think she uses "apps" on her iPhone as well (a tuner helper, and a metronome). Reading music, she does, because she played the clarinet for much longer than the guitar (in our generation, in Sweden, practically every kid played some instrument during the school years, I am the odd one out, because I didn't..., I am not very musically talented, and I preferred to spend my afternoons and evenings playing football or reading). And reading tablature for guitar she has learned now (it's really a lot easier than reading musical notes, since it indicates how to place the fingers, rather than what pitch to play).Good luck with finding something in the music store today (yesterday?)!love/Reb> >> > Himself's birthday/Father's day present got here (almost a week late!)> > and I've got it all wrapped and waiting - now somebody make him hurry up> and> > get home!!!!!! > > He's always picked out tools or stuff he NEEDS, but this time I went> > "behind his back" and got him something he WANTS - he's talked for years> > about wanting to learn to play the guitar, and so I got him a nice> > classical, and now I'm bouncing around in impatience for him to come home> > and see it!> > Wrapping it was "interesting", BTW... :-D> > > > > > Hurryhurryhurryhurryhurry!> > > > in WY > > Practical Blackwork Designs > > http://practicalblackwork.com> > http://practical-blackwork.blogspot.com > > > > "You get a wonderful view from the point of no return..."> >>
