you can go to the USGS sight and sign up for the free emails and down load the free information about earthquakes - in Alaska unless it is 6 or larger or in a city ... on the groups I am on that pay attention to it and aftershocks - people that live there or have lived there only look at the 6 and above ones

I've seen mention of an earthquake and Alaska...any details or links, can't seem to find anything online in the news about it.

There was a huge 7.2 centered in the Fox and Aleutian Islands. That area is sparsely populated thankfully. There was a tsumani warning issued but canceled in an hour or so. http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/recenteqsww/Quakes/usc0004f5m.phpThank goodness the tsunami didn't happen because the warning system on the Kenai Peninsula (where I used to live) FAILED!http://www.csmonitor.com/USA/Latest-News-Wires/2011/0624/Alaska-earthquake-Tsunami-siren-system-failed-after-quakehugs

Anne is right. Alaska has earthquakes all the time. No one pays attention to them unless they are BIG. When I was there we had trembling and minor shaking every few days at least.hugs SharonThis email is a natural hand made product. Rat Island swarms with under 2 - 3.0 it is called swarms - a 4.1 is felt

We live on the Meers Fault the last time it went was the late 90's I was further East in town - it hit in the mountains close to Medicene Park - the clerk - typist was from NY state and a real flake - it was a mid 3 earthquake - it rattled a few tea cups - nothing major - she ran down the hall and hung on the doorframe and started hollering like chicken little - being a Lawtonian it just felt like Fort Sill was closer to Lawton on the West Range and Shepherd Air Force Base south of us or Tinker north of us were strafing at the same time

I wasn't concerned I was charting - not concerned

actually not surprized - with Japan - Chile and I think Peru - it was time for another big one
