Thanks Reb and yes, the police mentioned hair spray which I never use but I intend to get a can of now. But I'm still buying the 'bear spray' because we really do have a problem here since they stopped the bear hunt. They along with their friends, deer and even moose, are seen in yards often.

We have to stand their chewing up our gardens, stomping flower bed etc.

Shooting a rifle in the city would land you in jail. Even BB guns, if you know what I mean by that, are illegal to shoot off in the city.

I think Canada and England are quite similar as far as gun laws. I don't want to start what could become an argument but I've always been anti-guns and have never allowed them in my home. And I doubt I could actually fire at another human being anyway even if my life were in jeopardy. The only circumstance I can think of is if a child were being hurt.

I hadn't realized that the police had to experience being pepper sprayed. The officer said it stung like "h -e - double hockey sticks' and the effects lasted quite a while. He also said I was correct in thinking to go for an attacker's eyes rather than his testes. With his adrenaline running and the possibility of being high on drugs, he'd not necessarily feel the full impact. Sorry guys but I find it hard to believe it hurts that much ;). But getting him in the eyes affects his sight and buys you time ... hugs, Cait

Apart from a brief period (I kind of got tired of having to spend that much time and attention on my hair in less than a year...) during my teenager years in the 198o's, when I tried real hard to get my hair to stand up in "spikes", I have never used hair spray or gel or any of those kinds of "strong hold" products, either (a little old fashioned brylcreem can save me from looking too much like a crazy person when I have waited too long to have my hair cut though....)...And, about going for the eyes, it's true that people on some kinds of drugs (unfortunately also the kind that too often make them a threat to others) will not feel much pain, and will therefor be hard to stop through inflicting pain. But if you can't see, you can't see, no matter how high on drugs and/or adrenaline. So, yes, I think that's good advice.I know what you mean about not knowing if you could actually fire at another person, I am the same way. love/Reb > >> > Alarm should be in this week. Dawn, alone with a little girl, next door, myself and 2 others have placed our orders in. And yes about no handguns. All guns must be registered, have whatever locks on them and be stored I forget where. And there's something about the storage of the bullets being nowhere close to the guns. Or so I think ... I'm not comfortable around guns and the only ones I've seen are hunting rifles. I think I'd be clumbsy enough to shoot myself by mistake anyway!> > > > Sharon, I honestly feel like I'm running on adrenaline and this whole experience was a dream. was more a mess than I was and when he worries, he drives me crazy. I made him keep a fishing trip tomorrow. I'll have the next door neighbor painting the stucco on the sides and back of the house anyway. > > > > But what I feel like doing is hanging a poster on the windows ... "idiots, instead of breaking windows or doors, just pry open the basement window in the back. I've done it several times when I was locked out and you even have a washer and dryer to land on!" No, that wouldn't be any fun for the idiots though. We were talking about garden raiding when we were kids and how a few nice people said just ask and they'd give us a bag of crabapples, carrots or whatever. They never tasted as good as the ones we snuck out of their gardens!> > > > Pepper spray is also illegal and the cop told me that if one were to spray an intruder, they'd be charged for it. But he also intimated that someone with a disability would most likely get away with it. Of course you can't walk into your sporting stores and buy it; you have to refer to it as 'bear spray' which is now on my nighttable! > > > > Quit worrying; I'm sore but Tylenol 3 makes it bearable. There is nothing worth stealing in this house and I'm just going to have to worry about you worrying about me! There is no way there will be a third time. And I've got the outside front light on, the living room on and the tv set with a timer, the lights on outside the side door and a sensor lamp on the patio. These idiots obviously prefer the daytime anyway.> > And the drama goes on> > > > > > > > > > Thought I'd better check in so Mom Sharon won't be worried.
