Connie,

1st - sorry you are having such a rough time of it. HBP is dangerous - so

please make sure you get onto some meds to bring it down. Did the emergency

room not give you something? IF they did not, that is just plain wrong in my

opinion.

2nd -***Weight gain and diffuculty in loosing the weight, and I am not under any

sort of medication other than vitamins. I eat well and I am active.*** - this

could be several things, BUT for a lot of people it is their thyroid that is

going out. Do some research under Hypothyrodism and see if you think that fits.

I have it and struggle every day. You can also check out

www.stopthethyroidmadness.com - this is a website done by a patient who wants to

help others with this particular disease.

3rd - ***this high blood pressure a result of the weight, or is it also a

symptom associated with FM? Or could it be from something else? *** - FOR ME -

when my weight gets too high my blood pressure goes up and I have to go on meds

until I can lose the weight. I am sure that there are many other causes,

hopefully you will find what is causing yours.

Bummer Day and Many Questions!

Well I am not so well any more at all! And I need some answers. Just really

hard to find a doc here! I went to the ER on Saturday, I fainted at work.

Turns out I have high blood pressure! It was so high that I just passed out. I

was just working and having a great time like I always do and I started feeling

light headed and a bit nausious, then I was on the floor with my head in

someone's lap! She turned out to be a nurse who was just in the store! They

took me to the hospital and now I can't go back to work until I see a doc! Well

My doc seems to be on vacation for the week! I am hoping that I can get into

see the doc covering for her! And in the meanwhile another person is covering

for the only part of my job that I truely live for! I am a cashier trainer and

I had a class today! I am just going up a wall trying to wait for time to go in

to try to see the doc. I just hate to break in a new doc, someone I have never

seen before. I do not

trust doctors at all after fighting with VA docs for my husband for the past 10

years, and then having my own problems just ignored or passed over! NO I do not

like any part of this day at all! I did have to purchase a home blood pressure

unit and all the times I have used it yesterday and this morning tells me that I

am dangerously high. I just had a physical in January, and I had a colonoscopy

2 weeks ago, no one has told me that I have high blood pressure at all!!!! Whats

up with that????

Any way, thanks for listening to that rant, here is the question: Weight gain

and diffuculty in loosing the weight, and I am not under any sort of medication

other than vitamins. I eat well and I am active. Does any one else have this

issue? Is this a symptom or a result, or is it unrelated? Do I need to be more

active to get the weight off, or is it a loosing battle at this point? I am

about 220 right now and it seems like I can do nothing to get it down.

Next question is the new one, is this high blood pressure a result of the

weight, or is it also a symptom associated with FM? Or could it be from

something else?

Finally, I am wondering what questions I should present to my doctor to get some

of this addressed. I am not even sure I will be able to get back to see me

other doctor. I only go to her for checkups and yearly exams, I usually just

tough it out if I am sick and since I had breeast cancer back in '91 I have to

see a doc yearly. Lately she has not even seen me, I get to see her PA, who

knows nothing about FM or any other raging problems, she just orders the tests

and tells me nothing!

And I just noticed that there is someone else in Alaska! Where are you that it

is still snowing, we had a dusting, but it did not stick!

Thanks for the answers in advance!

Connie, I have had high blood pressure for three years, ever since I

was induced with my daughter with a bp of 177/107. Went to dr a

couple of weeks ago and was 157/108! Of course, he changed my meds

immediatly! I was feeling bad, but diddn't know it was HPB. I was

on Benicar, and changed it to Azor, and been much better... On thing

i've learned is to drink alot of water! It helps bp alot, and make

sure to get on daily meds.. its a world of difference! My bp is

from genetic hypertention, not from weight the dr said, even though

I am overweight, although, I am sure loseing weight would help.. I

am on a low salt diet no matter what I eat, and doing better with

it. Stoke is a commen factor with HBP, so be very careful! get an

over the counter BP cuf and take it everyday for at least a week..

there are digital ones that are easy to use...dr should at least

give you dizide, diuretic, for the time being to help it stay

down...Hope this helps... Take care and gentle hugs, Gretchen
