Guest guest
I was taking a b complex 100 daily for years, so all my b levels were within normal ranges at the time of the infusion. My infusion was a one time thing. They planned on infusing 500 mg. They did the test dose and I seemed to tolerate it fine so they proceeded with the infusion. I fell asleep and in about am hour I awoke to a swollen, blotchy body and I could not catch my breath. I hit the nurses button and passed out. When I woke up, there were people all around me, like 7-10 nurses & 3 doctors. They said I had an allergic reaction to the iron and they had administered 500 mg benadryl. After it was all over, I still have about 200 mg. lft in the bag, so we figure I actually got a dose ofabout 300 mg. I was in the hospital for something else and the anemia was found while testing. Because of my reaction, we didnt discuss any future infusions. My ferritin was 7 at the time of the infusion. 2 months later we tested and it was 54. I had no iron since the infusion at all, so I know the raise was only from that big dose. I hope I answered your questions ok and I hope you are able to find what will work for you.
