Guest guest
I've noticed that overweight folks are the new 'target' for ridicule and jokes, I guess because we cross all races, genders, religions etc, it's considered fair game. Guest guest
I used to watch The View, really liked the show. When I learned that Star was hypo and on Synthroid I took the show up on their offer... that they answer any and all emails sent to them... so I wrote to Star...I wanted to see if they would do a segment on hypo, thyroid disorder.... they never responded to my comments, or acknowledged receipt... I tried again a couple of months later. I don't know all the gossip, just what I've picked up here and there... Star and Rosie don't get along, Star left when she heard Rosie was hired to replace Meredith. My PERSONAL opinion is that they don't care a lot about thyroid disorders, and don't consider it to be worth their time. So I do have a bias. I wouldn't think it a bad idea to send off a bunch of emails to the show telling them just how tacky it was of them to allow hurtful comments to be made of a serious and significant medical condition. .... even if they don't consider us to be dealing with a serious, significant medical condition. All my personal opinion, of course. Topper () On Thu, 12 Oct 2006 16:51:48 -0000 " kats3boys " writes: > This was posted at the Grave's site this morning and I needed to > share here. Guest guest
I don't follow the view much myself, but I was interested in Star's departure. ABC had long decided that they would not renew Star's contract before they hired Rosie. She went out of her way to make the announcement early after she and Barbara had agreed on when and how it would be done. ABC says that she lost her fan base because they'd lost trust in her. A lot of it came after she used "The View" as a marketing avenue to get suppliers to donate items for her wedding. I personally like Rosie a lot, and she has some big shoes to fill. I wish I had seen it today so that I could have an opinion about she said. I think she sometimes speaks before she thinks, especially if she wants a laugh, but I think her heart is in the right place. I'm always in awe of all the good things that she does. Do we know if (the bride) actually has Grave's or TED, or does she just look like she does? It wouldn't make a difference in my opinion, I'm just curious... Judy I don't know all the gossip, just what I've picked up here and there...Star and Rosie don't get along, Star left when she heard Rosie was hiredto replace Meredith. How low will we go? Guest guest
I like Rosie too but I just don't think that it's going to last much longer. I thought it was getting a little dry even before Star left. But I really think that Star was a bit over confident after the weight loss and maybe, Barbara was a little intimidated.Judy P wrote: I don't follow the view much myself, but I was interested in Star's departure. Guest guest
Nope... gastric bypass... don't know which variety she had... I understand there are three or four types... but she did the surgery. I'm weird, you guys know that.. but one of the things I focused on when I used to watch the show was Star and how she looked.. I could watch her goiter as it changed... you could see it larger some weeks, smaller on others.. I never got so weird as to chart it.. I kinda wish that I had.. but.... Now there is another person on TV that I watch a LOT that seems to have a small goiter and is VERY hyper-ish.. but I've not heard anything yet... I'll just keep watching... and, yeah... I'll say who... I've commented once or twice over the last year.... Ray.... .... I'm now watching another, she's just come back on TV regularly in the series Ghost Whisperer... Camryn Manheim.... I watch her in the Practice reruns... and now she's back on TV.. it's interesting to watch folks on TV and have the chance to see them in older shows and current ones and do comparisons... Though most never tell if they have any particular medical condition.. for fear of being labeled, I suppose. Did you guys know that Robyn, Dr. Phil's wife, is also hypo? She's on Synthroid too... I've written to them too, along with Oprah, and Montel... there is one other that I can't think of right now.... but no one wants to jump up and do anything that focuses on Thyroid disorder... we're just not flashy like diabetes or breast cancer... The one that does hit the news, the 'runaway bride' (I believe she's dealing with Grave's) isn't taking seriously.. just turned into a running joke. Maybe that is the route we need to take?? Get a comic to start a skit about us, something to at least get people to look at us as a group of people that have a NUMBER... I mean that there are a LOT of us...it's not just one or two here and there, it's a hugely growing population and as they continue to tamper with our food and water sources.... it's just going to continue to grow. I mention food and water cuz of all the stresses that things like fluoride and high fructose corn syrup and soy and irradiated produce cause to folks that have a predisposition to thyroid problems.... and then there are the added issues with what stresses for generations finally bring out in kids... look at how they are focusing on the 'growing epidemic of obesity in children in the US'. How much of that is environmental, learned.... or... gasp.... what if some of it has to do with the kids showing thyroid stresses that exhibit as (gasp, this isn't EVER true) as a tendency toward increasing energy levels by foods that are quick and easy to digest.... carbs. We see it in hypo adults.... how it can become really easy to reach for easy to eat, digest, process foods in an effort to not be so tired, to get through a slump and find some energy.... Now consider kids... their bodies are growing, huge amounts of energy needed for that, plus the increased activity that comes with being a kid... in a body that MIGHT be challenged metabolically with a sluggish thyroid level???? Hmmmm maybe it's just me.. but I get so @#Q%$ -off when they keep harping on all these behavioral things (which do contribute I know) but they never look at what might be beneath... If I had been diagnosed earlier... I wouldn't be where I am now.... No gland... no meds... and the FDA and customs telling me I can't have meds cuz 'they are protecting me' cuz the FDA are the only ones that look our for our best interests.... and then I see yet ANOTHER announcement on TV for a class action lawsuit concerning an FDA approved drug, after being on the market for years, that is harming THOUSANDS of people.... but they know more than I do and are protecting me..... Time to find a lawyer to file suit against the FDA for burial costs for the thousands they are killing with their self serving pocket stuffing policy.... Oppps.... shoving soap box in corner. It just hit my head... I'll add it as I push the box... soda in schools.... why are the soda machines there in the first place? was it cuz the students asked for it? Or the parents? Or was it nutritionally good for the kids? Did it reduce work load to staff? No... the machines were put there to make money for people by taping and easy to abuse market... kids.... Now that problems are resulting from that..... How many schools are just flying in there and pulling out machines? Not many, if any.... they might be changing what the machines contain but the machines stay.. cuz they make money..... sigh....- Topper () *who's far too editorial and bitter now* On Thu, 12 Oct 2006 22:51:14 -0700 Ken & Jackie Reimer writes: HI Topper, I don't watch the View, so not sure what, or who is doing what. Guest guest
Nope... gastric bypass... don't know which variety she had... Guest guest
As a matter of fact, it turns out that does have hyperthyroidism and was being monitored by her doc, right during that time, or rather right before that happened. BTW, when this episode happened, we all looked at her picture, at the goiter in her neck and decided that she was already hyperthyroid. That was before the news came out on the sbjct of her telling this to the judge. Guess what. The judge dismissed her diagnosis as being no excuse for what she did. Sheesh!! People do NOT understand this disease, or any other thyroid disease, for that matter. It just sucks, frankly. All anyone had to do was look at her neck and know it already!! They don't realize how badly it all affects the brain. But wait until one of THEM gets thyroid disease, and that's all you'll hear about, is how to campaign for an illness, Hollywood style. Guest guest
You know who's nasty to heavy people is Jay Leno. He can get flat cruel. Spiff Spiff, I watch Leno all the time & I don't ever remember him saying anything nasty about fat people. Maybe you can remember a joke or something to help me recall? i will pay closer attention now to see if I agree...lol. As for Rosie, Ican't stand her, never liked her from the beginning & Barbra Walters, what a witch!! She comes her to Vegas & one of my friends used to be her Limo driver. He said she is very snotty & demanding, she refuses to ride in a red limo. So one trip here he said she was extra horrible & he knew she was late for her plane, so sent another driver in a red limo.....lol... she got in it, because she had no choice, I understand she gripped the whole way to the airport. She also never tipped, you don't do that in Vegas when your famous, word travels fast. Cindy

Guest guest
Yeah, I didn't like her long before I knew she was gay. I like Ellen Degeneres sp.? though. I think she's funny as can be but isn't full of herself and doesn't feel the need to talk all the time about her sexual preference. Tammy I soooooooop agree with you Spiff !!! Rosie DID have her own show a few years ago.She was just as opinionated then as she is now, guess that's why she doesn't have her own show anymore !!?!!Cindy Sue>> Everybody's so scared to comment against a person who's gay. I for the life of me never figured out how somebody's sexual habits should get them off the hook or special treatment. Lots of gay people use that as an excuse I think. Kinda like,> "Hey, that was a mean thing to say, you should apologize.." "You hate me because I'm gay!" "No I dislike you because you're behaving like a jackass!" Why they bring that issue up and throw it in our face is beyond me. I have plenty of gay friends and none of them make a big deal out of it. So our gates don't swing the same way.... does that affect the price of tea in China? I wish people would get their heads screwed on straight, seriously! This is stupid! Do straight people make a case? NO......then why should gay people...I mean reallly........!> Spiff
