I had a lovely day. Even better was the temp was lower! It was 85 yesterday but today was in the low 70s. This morning my son and his four kids (my grands) make breakfast for me and my dil. They make ham and cheese omelets and homemade hash browns. It was SO good! Then this afternoon at 3 we went to a late lunch/early dinner at a chinese buffet. My favorite local restaurant! Guest guest
sounds lovely! we went to Mc D's and splurged for o.j. to go with my sausage biscuits lol! My husband was kind of feeling badly but I told him I would much rather do that than fight the crowds at any of the breakfast joints we passed that had waiting. we never eat fast food unless we're on a road trip and even then may not. they're habit forming and actually not that great once you reach a point of intake. got the necessary calls in/out for the honoring of moms. thankfully didn't get any "things" which drives me nuts these days because we are trying to downsize the "stuff" but it keeps coming out of obligation no matter how much I plead "don't you dare" and "stuff only stresses me out". I keep trying though~ wonderful when it happens. I can't stand the things done in obligation to rituals of the society...every day is mother's day, every day is spouse appreciation day, and every day (nearly) is cinco de mayo lol with regards to food! I come from CA and we have a taste for honest mexican food. I was so excited when I found a recipe for a chili relleno casserole~ much easier and so tastey! perhaps I'll post it for you guys ~ hugs DeeTo: Group <mserslife >Sent: Sun, May 8, 2011 10:10:58 PMSubject: how was your Mother's Day? Guest guest
My day was grand! My daughter, Lia, made me breakfast in bed:coffee, bacon, cheesy eggs and pear slices. Yum. Then 2 of my four kids (the 5th one isn't home) came to church with me. I play the bongos in my Praise Band; I just love it! Anyway, it was super. There is a couple at our church who, once a month, prepare a huge lunch--yesterday there was penne ala vodka, salmon, turkey, stuffing, cranberries, salad and cake. What a spread! So, we had lunch, basically for free. They look for donations to pay for the food, but I didn't have any $ on me. I looked in the basket later and there was TONS of cash, so I didn't feel too guilty for not contributing. After church, a friend of mine, Stacey, talked me into going for a manicure/pedicure with her. It was expensive, as we had the lavender, hot stone massage pedi, but SO worth it. They have the massage/shiatsu chairs that just send me into heaven! So peaceful. Later, I bought Chinese for the kids, and we watched 'G Force'--the movie with the guinea pigs; very cute! We have streaming Netflix, which is great, so many movies to choose from. Then 3 of us played Scrabble after the movie. My son, Luke, beat me by 1 point! All in all, a wonderful day! Hope all the other mommies had a great day!love to all mommies/grandmas and all others of course too!KateTo: Group <mserslife >Sent: Sun, May 8, 2011 11:10:58 PMSubject: how was your Mother's Day? Guest guest
Yes, we celebrate Mother's Day, but not until the last Sunday of May. The different dates for these celebrations can really cause some confusion in international settings... We spent a summer weekend in Denmark once, with Danish friends, and with us was also a friend from Germany. The wife in the Danish family suddenly exclaimed, on the Sunday afternoon: "Oh no! It's Father's Day! I totally forgot that! I should have called dad this morning!" That had us all (Swedes, Germans and Danes alike) running for our cell phones – until and I stopped and said... "But wait... isn't it usually winter on Father's Day?" [in Sweden Father's Day is in November] and our German friend said (sort of simultaneously) "Wait...didn't I wish my dad a happy Father's Day quite recently?" [in Germany the Father's Day is celebrated a couple of weeks before the day in Denmark]...love/Reb> > > > >Subject: how was your Mother's Day?> >To: "Group" mserslife > >Date: Monday, May 9, 2011, 6:10 AM> >> >> > > >I had a lovely day.
