TK--- yes or taking natural antifungals regularly along with diet. Pathogen die off is neurotoxic and causes the same side effects as Hg which is why it is a good idea to keep it under control so you know what is causing what reactions. > > I know that candida will go away if metals are gone but I wonder if i > can get symptom relief in the meantime. Use of antifungals carries some risk of killing off beneficial organisms and selecting for resistant organisms. > I know that candida will go away if metals are gone but I wonder if i > can get symptom relief in the meantime. Success anyone? > Yeast stopped being a problem for me when I changed my diet to exclude gluten, dairy, and refined sugars. I have had even better results with the SCD and especially with the SCD yogurt. > Is it really necessary to follow a candida diet or is just taking > antifungals enough? It would be better to use dietary measures to control yeast and avoid the risks involved with using antifungals. There are as many variations on the 'candida' diet as there are people who want to talk about it. The SCD works because the nutrients from SCD legal foods are quickly absorbed and then there are no sugars and starches hanging around in the GI tract to feed yeast and other opportunists. Can an antifungal treatment be dangerous? Should > this be done under the supervision of a doctor? > The trouble is that there are not very many doctors who would understand how to use antifungals properly. There are some posts from Andy on the subject that likely could be found using www.onibasu.com Fungal cells are more similar to human cells than bacterial cells are. Therefore antifungals are more toxic to human cells as compared to antibiotics, meaning one risk is damaging your own cells. Another risk is killing off beneficial organisms and selecting for organisms that are resistant to the antifungals used. > Are there natural non Rx supplements that are as effective as > the 'chemical' ones? > Yes, when used properly. From my memory what Andy has said is that naturopaths who use the OTC yeast treatments get better results with their patient's yeast problems as compared to doctors who use the Rx antifungals. It would be better to search for his posts on the subject. J
Guest guest
I am really struggling with candida as well. I was on a gluten free, sugar free diet before I started chelating, and I felt really great. Now, since chelation, I'm struggling with sweets and breads more than ever. It recently dawned on me (memory, ha!) that I should tackle this issue once more. I had great success with a probiotic called 'Ultra Primal Defense' from Garden of Life. I started using it again after my last round of chelation. The dye off side-effects are very similar to my chelation side-effects. Right now I can only tolerate one a day. In the past I took three a day without problems. I guess the candida is out of control again. Garden of Life also has a product called Fungal Defense, but I am not brave enough to try it yet. There is a definite correlation between metals and yeast. I wish there were more information out there about the two. If anyone knows of any, please, let me know. > > I believe some of my symptoms such as moods swings and brain fog could > be caused by candida. Guest guest
I used Garden of Life Ultra probiotics too and it is hands down the best one thing I have ever taken. Helps me absorbed the other supplements, has helped my digestive track tremendously, and if I miss a day, I really notice it. I take at least 4 per day, sometimes more. My Candida is pretty severe and systematic since age 11. I use Nizoral for the scalp but besides the wheat free/sugar free/gluten free diet and probiotics, nothing else has seemed to help much. I did find that activated charcoal every once in awhile can help " mop up " some of the die off. Guest guest
Cheri, Primal defense is awesome! I am a huge Garden of Life fan. Have you tried their RM-10? It is a great immune system booster. I am hoping that this Candida will disappear when the mercury is finally gone. Interesting that you said scalp problems, my scalp itches around my neck all of the time. I like activated charcoal as well as Sonne's bentonite clay. I wish there was more info on the relationship between metals and yeast. > > I used Garden of Life Ultra probiotics too and it is hands down the best one > thing I have ever taken. Guest guest
I did a gluten free diet and felt much better. Since starting chelation I crave sooo much sweets, bread and chocolate My tongue is very white again. I think it's the metals coming out again... There are different opinions on yeast and metals. Very interesting stuff. Some say the metals lower the immune system and let candida grow. Others say the body uses yeast to protect itself from mercury. I believe andy said that the candida problem starts in the brain. Brain mercury will mess up hormones which causes candida overgrowth. Sometimes i feel candida overgrowth and metal toxcity is the same illness. I do believe metals come first and then candida follows... Not sure how much chelation is needed to get rid of yeast???? > > > > I believe some of my symptoms such as moods swings and brain fog > could > > be caused by candida. I don't know if Andy makes a direct connection in the book between brain mercury and candida, but certainly brain mercury can mess up hormone levels and many hormones are involved in immune function. Mercury can also mess up immune function directly, which is definitely in the book. --

Guest guest
Andy mentions candida in his book on a few occassions and that it should be treated. He says candida overgrowth goes along with Hg poisoning. (Pg.189 AI book)He says that controlling and treating yeast will keep you more comfortable during chelation as will a sulphur exclusion diet. That you must take things to restore natural gut flora, like lactobacillus acidophilus, bifidobacteria. And yes messed up adrenals can make candida worse. As can diet, chelation etc. As I read it, chronic candida causes leaky gut after enough time has gone by, that is why so many do well on GF/CF diets. Or with the help of digestive enzymes. It keeps food particles from getting through the leaky gut and causing immune reaction. Treating the yeast is important to healing the leaky gut. Too much yeast make the holes in the gut wall. Mercury changes gut flora by killing the good flora off. Also,Yeast likes to feed on the mercury. The good flora usually keeps yeast in control. Not enough good flora..then no control. the yeast takes over. And you get sicker. It affects brain, body, everything. And yes, lowered immune fuction doesn't help you with control either. It's a catch 22. A white tongue is yeast. You will not see evidence of metals comming out. With the exception of foul smelling sweat, urine or feces. Craving sweets or carbs is a clear yeast sign. Itchy ears, eyes, congestion, headaches, rashes..etc..yeast. Guest guest
CLear and concise post. Thank you! However, I just wanted to share that these common symptoms may not always be present as is what happened to me! I am getting better doing the candida diet with probiotics and using Solomon Wickey's CanSol. However, I just had not had any of these typical symptoms, and it took a bolt of lightening from a gifted healer to figure out that candida was one of my big problems. Candida can burrow in almost anywhere, and can take harbor in any organ. It also transforms from yeast to fungus, and can create all sort of nasty problems. Now that I have been on the diet for awhile, I am testing positive in the spittle test whereas before, it was hard to tell. My hands are also breaking out, and I am guessing this is because the candida is now begining to crawl out of its depths, making itself seen some. I am also feeling much better....er...well, at least most of the time. Thanks, Inga > A white tongue is yeast. You will not see evidence of metals comming > out.
