I have had good luck finding mercury thermometers at medical supply

stores.

I just got two as well. Except NOWHERE does it say mercury. But I

think it is. Did yours say mercury?

Speaking of non-digital oral thermos, does it matter how long one

leaves it in? I have found that with especially the

mercury-substitute ones that I think contain alcohol, that 3 - 5

minutes usually isn't long enough so I'll leave it in there for a good

long time, sometimes forgetting about it for over 10 minutes while I

type an e-mail (like I am doing right now). Does it matter? Does it

give a false higher reading by doing so?

With my 37 yr old mercury thermo (I brought it home from the hospital

when my daughter was born) it takes 3,1/2-4 min.

I don't want to be a poop, but on Dr. Rind's instructions it says that

taking another and another temp (or something like this) may slightly

elevate the temperature do to tongue action.
