Guest guest
You should only check BP after sitting still and calm for at least 15 monutes. Any activity or stress can raise it so ertake after you have been quiet a while. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/
Guest guest
Okay. But what at the doctors office, the nurse takes me in and sits me down and takes my BP, wouldn't that be higher then like when I am at home and just sit down and take it? This really confuses me. Why would the diastolic go up after sitting for awhile and the systolic go down? Confused... > You should only check BP after sitting still and calm for at least 15 > monutes. Guest guest
Val, Have you ever had problems taking your bp standing? I'm able to get mine while sitting, but everytime I try to do it standing I get an error message. I'm using a digital one becasue that's what I have. Rie A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort. Guest guest
Doctors expect the BP to be a bit higher while in their office just from strss of being there and lern to compensate in their judgement of what is high from tha too. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/

Guest guest
It is the machine it self that needs to be raised, if mine is too low I get errors too. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/
Guest guest
Cherie, I have a pretty good digital one and I find that if I get the cuff on tight enough for a good seated BP I can just leave it where it is and stand up and get the next one without adjusting the cuff. If I adjust it after I stand up it often isn't tight enough and errors. > > Val, > > Have you ever had problems taking your bp standing? Hmm, between you and Val, you may have shed light on why my BP is always higher at the doctor's office. Maybe it isn't all nervousness from just being there after all. And I think I haven't been sitting quietly long enough before taking my BP. Which could account for erratic results. The devil is in the details yet again. sol

Guest guest
If it is an arm cuff, put the monitor on the table, sit down and stretch out your arm and rest your wrist and forearm on the table. If it is a wrist monitor, bend your arm and hold it so that your wrist is level with your chest If you need to stand while taking it then you need to put the monitor on something higher than a table and rest your arm at the same height Lynda Re: BP questions > how should you hold it if not at your side???? >
