Thank you, Kem, for your kind words and encouragement. I am at perimenopause....maybe finally entering into the big "M" since my periods are getting closer together. I DO use bioidentical progesterone cream, but she did change it a month ago, so what I use now is different from what I was using. A friend of mine has sent me some of her Cytomel to "borrow" until mine comes in, but she sent it last Friday, and it still hasn't come in. Ugh. Every day I eagerly check the mail, so hoping it finally made it today. I broke down for two days and took my 1/2 grain of Naturethroid just to get SOMETHING into me even though I know it converts to rt3 because the moodswings were so miserable. I think once I know I'm actually being treated, ie: starting treatment, I will feel better emotionally knowing I'm going forward. I can't

stand this being at a standstill or going backwards thing. I MAY email to vent, because I guess not everyone wants to hear this mess! ;) Thanks again!

Joan I really can't say if your crying spells are related to thyroid or not but it does sound hormonal to me;-( Are you perimenopausal or menopausal age? I used to get spells like that too way before I was diagnosed with thyroid issues but I found that rubbing a little natural progesterone cream on my skin did help me calm down, I still use it to this day. You've also been off NT for 3 weeks so it would make sense you're feeling pretty bad right now given you don't have anything for your thyroid. When I started T3 I could only take being off NT for 3 days before I felt a big difference and fatigue and mild depression started back again. Sweetie hang in there, it may take a while to get your T3 depending on where you ordered it from. Is there a possibility you might get another prescription refill of NT until you receive it? Your doc can't just let you hang like that. I'm so sorry you're feeling

bad. Not knowing where your at female hormone wise all I know to suggest is a bit of progesterone, but I have no idea what your progesterone and estrogen levels are doing, it could make things worse..I'm sorry I don't have better answers for you. Feel free to email me if you just need to vent...believe me I know how you feel.

Is it just me, or does this rt3 thing (hypo thing) cause ridiculous and sporadic crying spells? For years I've had some mild "blues" type depression, but this is ridiculous. After the doctor took me off of my Naturethroid 3 weeks ago, it's steadily getting worse. A friend was going to send me some of HER Cytomel to tide me over until mine came in so I could start taking it, but it's been 5 mailing days, and still nothing! I'm about to lose it here! And still waiting for the doctor to get in and look at the latest lab tests. Ugh. I'm just ready to get started. Anyone got any words of wisdom or good advice? Comfort even? :)>>

Well if your peri then it makes total sense about mood swings and crying. I could feel them coming on and I finally got to the point that I began recognizing it was a hormone "burp" and started riding them out because I knew they'd come on, peak and then subside. Hard when they come one after another I know. Add thyroid into the mix and girl we got a hormonal party goin on and feels like we're partying till the wheels fall off LOL. I wonder what your doc changed with your progesterone? Do you know if she added more or less? That may have a kickstart effect on the up and down jags. Doc put me on Prometrium progesterone caps for a while but they're pretty big and was getting stuck with my lapband so then he ordered bio compounded but was expensive then doc put me on Emerita and while it was ok, it was still almost as expensive as compounded. I finally found a good product that works for me at the hippy health store in town. It's called Gentle Pharmacy Clear Patch and comes in 1% and 5% USP progesterone. 5 drops of 5% a day keeps me level without up/down hormonal jags, I'm peri too. I'm really close to being done with the curse so will probably end up supplementing estrogen but for now I'm estrogen dominant and progesterone keeps it in line. I'm sure the ladies here understand that ol hormonal thang and having thyroid issues on top of it all can be a struggle. Please do feel free to email me any time, it helps to do whatever we can just to cope and get through this wonderful passage of life.<<Posted by: "Joan Krupicka" krupickajoan@... krupickajoanFri Jun 4, 2010 6:41 am (PDT)Thank you, Kem, for your kind words and encouragement.
