Guest guest
I'm guessing that you can contact the lab directly from info on the results sheet and ask for them to do a sensitivities test from your sample. Samples (at least of biopsies for sure) are kept around for a while - how long I don't know but I know they are because I had my biopsy loooked at by a dermopathologist in the same lab as the one the in which the regular pathologist worked. It took some explaining and time to get the right person but I got it done..If that fails call the doc you trust the most and tell him what the problem is and that you got a positive for glabrata in a rectal swab.... and you need a sensitivities test.femifesto wrote: hi everyone--i'm kind of in shock right now. a couple weeks ago i posted that i gotthis doc at the student health clinic to order me a yeast stoolculture for yeast when i started having rectal symptoms. i was amazedthat i convinced him to order this test as i've never been able to getany "conventional" doc to help me out in this arena.anyway, after calling and calling to get a copy of the results, i gotthem in the mail and it is positive for glabrata.i just don't know what i'm supposed to do. i have taken antifungals(ketoconazole, fluconazole, ampho b, boric acid, you name it) out thewah-zoo. unfortunately, even though i requested it, they did not do asensitivity. at least they did the typing.as i've mentioned a lot, i dealth with yeast issues many years ago,but have had all negative cultures ever since this blasted vulvar painstarted. please help!julie**IF REPLYING TO THIS POST, PLEASE REMOVE ORIGINAL POST, Thanks for your cooperation! *****
Guest guest
hi dusty-- good idea. i was wondering about that. i will give that a shot on monday. one thing i can say about this darn problem is that i am getting good at getting what i need out of people. 2 years ago, i never would have stood up to a doc like i did to get this culture done. and, i forgot to mention in my original post, but the doc NEVER EVEN CALLED ME to tell me it was positive. i only know because i kept calling and calling to get them to send me a copy. i am guessing this is either because he on some level didn't want to admit that i was right about what was going on with me or because he is negligent, or both. thanks again for the suggestion, julie hi everyone-- > i'm kind of in shock right now. a couple weeks ago i posted that i got > this doc at the student health clinic to order me a yeast stool > culture for yeast when i started having rectal symptoms. i was amazed > that i convinced him to order this test as i've never been able to get > any " conventional " doc to help me out in this arena. > > anyway, after calling and calling to get a copy of the results, i got > them in the mail and it is positive for glabrata. > > i just don't know what i'm supposed to do. i have taken antifungals > (ketoconazole, fluconazole, ampho b, boric acid, you name it) out the > wah-zoo. > > unfortunately, even though i requested it, they did not do a > sensitivity. at least they did the typing. > > as i've mentioned a lot, i dealth with yeast issues many years ago, > but have had all negative cultures ever since this blasted vulvar pain > started. > > please help! > > julie > > > > **IF REPLYING TO THIS POST, PLEASE REMOVE ORIGINAL POST, > Thanks for your cooperation! ** > > ***
Guest guest
Well, to be fair, you said the doc was an intern or something like that right? He was probably cycled out to his next "field" of study and would never see the results because he didn't work there anymore. Nevertheless, you'd think the staff would call with the positive result.Another thing you can consider - an infectious disease doc. I'm guessing, Jule, that you are having difficulties because your hormonal system is all funky. Here are some PUBMED sites which give info on infection causes in women. I googled PUBMED and vaginal yeast and it to me to pub med - then at top of that screen - upper right, (quicksearch) i keyed causes of vaginal yeast. Then I googled pubmed and rectal yeast, used the quicksearch in PUBMED for rectal glabrata yeast - but didn't find much in either rectal or anal yeast. There are other medical sites to search though, I'm sure.Your thyroid - if improperly treated can allow yeast to be a problem. See this site: http://www.diagnose-me.com/cond/C20336.htmlYour sex hormones can be out of balance for a number of reasons (thyroid included) and they too can allow yeast to become a problem. See:http://www.drspock.com/article/0,1510,6235,00.htmlUndiagnosed diabetes or prediabetes can create problems. For most of us, unless we are really eating nothing much but sugar, drastic dietary elimination of all sugars isn't really going to fix yeast. Sugars, simple and complex have been in our lives since the beginning of time and so if something has gone awry in ur system making you unable to handle sugars - then its THAT issue you must address so that sugars don't affect you adversely. I am not , however, condoning days full of ice cream, cake, candy, muffins, potatoes etc. All diets should generally follow the food pyramid for good health. You'll find the answer Jule - learning to talk back with the medical authorities is certainly a plus - we've all had to overcome that taboo!!!!!! Guest guest
hi dusty-- i suppose it is possible that he was an intern and was cycled out, but his last words to me were that he would call me when the results came back. i do appreciate your reminders that we have to find the reasons we are so prone to yeast problems. this is something it took me years to figure out! and i read so many yeast diet books, etc. and had done all this drastic stuff, which was helpful, but not sustainable. i am going to have my thyroid checked again now that i went up on my t3 so we'll see what that says. my female hormones have always tested out ok, although i suspect my adrenals are messed up and am hoping to get that checked out soon. julie hi everyone-- > > i'm kind of in shock right now. a couple weeks ago i posted that i got > > this doc at the student health clinic to order me a yeast stool > > culture for yeast when i started having rectal symptoms. i was amazed > > that i convinced him to order this test as i've never been able to get > > any " conventional " doc to help me out in this arena. > > > > anyway, after calling and calling to get a copy of the results, i got > > them in the mail and it is positive for glabrata. > > > > i just don't know what i'm supposed to do. i have taken antifungals > > (ketoconazole, fluconazole, ampho b, boric acid, you name it) out the > > wah-zoo. > > > > unfortunately, even though i requested it, they did not do a > > sensitivity. at least they did the typing. > > > > as i've mentioned a lot, i dealth with yeast issues many years ago, > > but have had all negative cultures ever since this blasted vulvar pain > > started. > > > > please help! > > > > julie > > > > > > > > **IF REPLYING TO THIS POST, PLEASE REMOVE ORIGINAL POST, > > Thanks for your cooperation! ** > > > > ***
Guest guest
If he did " cycle out " legally and ethically the clinic is required to transfer your care to another doc who will get back to you with test results and continue on with your treatment...they can't just go away and leave you hanging. It's frustrating to figure out " why " with chronic yeast. I've had thyroid checked (and supplemented), insulin/ir checked and corrected, even hiv tests and nothing was far off the mark. I treated the lyme that tests showed I was exposed to and my hormones are balanced. My nurse practitioner says yeast is tenacious and just hangs on sometimes. Guest guest
Ladies- Sometime the cause of chronic yeast may be a weakened immune system. That does not mean that you get the flue easily Sometimes your immune cells cannot fight infections easily. I take immuno - stilmulants, along with conventional anti-yeast medications.
