You're grateful for getting a disease that'll stay with you for the rest of your life, has no cure and can cause horrendous complications!! No I don't think that what you really meant. Hi Barry, I'm very thankful for getting diabetes. Even though I was a healthy person, I was not taking care of myself the way I should have been. I was losing weight that I gained from having to take heavy doses of steroids, but I was not giving it 100%. I was on 2 meds for high blood pressure and I was on one med for diabetes. Since losing weight and adding even more exercise to my daily schedule, I've been at my weight goal since 2001, I no longer take high blood pressure meds and I'm not taking any meds for diabetes. I'm 63 yrs old, feel better than I did when I was in my 40's. I go all day long and very seldom get tired. If I do get tired, I can sit down for 15 minutes, have a cup of tea and I'm ready to go again. Yes, I thank God that I do have diabetes. I can live a long and healthy life with diabetes. hugs Eunice
