COLD WEATHER EMERGENCY ADVISORY

Date: December 13, 2010 Time: 1:45 P.M.

The National Weather Service forecasts low temperatures, including wind chill, in the low 30’s to mid 40’s in Broward metro areas Monday night through Thursday morning (December 13 – December 16).

As a result of this forecast, Broward County is extending the Cold Weather Emergency and has declared a cold weather emergency for Monday overnight (December 13), Tuesday overnight (December 14) and Wednesday overnight (December 15) as follows:

Monday night (December 13) from 6:30 P.M. overnight to Tuesday morning, ending at 8:00 A.M.;

Tuesday night (December 14) from 6:30 P.M. overnight to Wednesday morning ending at 8:00 A.M; and

Wednesday night (December 15 from 6:30 P.M. overnight to Thursday morning ending at 7:00 A.M;

Homeless persons are advised to report to the following locations (map attached), no later than 6:30 p.m. this Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings for transportation or access to special cold night shelters:

• City of Pompano Beach

Pompano Beach City Hall 100 W. Atlantic Blvd (SE Corner)

• City of Fort Lauderdale

The Salvation Army 1445 West Broward Blvd

• City of Hollywood 2056 Street (Shelter Location)

Broward Outreach Center

Please notify homeless persons in your area of this plan.

However, if the weather forecast changes to predict warmer conditions, cold weather emergency shelter nights may be cancelled. If there are changes to this declaration, they will be issued no later than 10:00 A.M. on the date of the event.
