Guest guest
Hi Chelle, What is the title of Dr. Vliet's book? Is it completely different from Dr. 's book? I'm also wondering if there might be a newer book on vulvodynia out there? One that mentions the newer drugs and the most up-to-date treatment? thanks. Re:Estrace - pletchsr wrote: >>>>>>>>>>Yes I'm open to estrace, the problem is getting a doctor to agree. What type of doctor did you go to to get that? Do you have any side effects? Has it affected your systemic levels?shannon , I started using Estrace topically when I was 32. I went to my uro/gyn LOADED with info from the group. Told him that I knew it would have very little if any systemic absorption. I also told him that I KNEW he understands about the good effects estrogen can have on the uro/genital. And furthermore, I told him, SINCE the medical community says there is NO cure for the conditions I have (v.pain & IC) why NOT allow me to try something that MIGHT work! He allowed me to try it. You have to go to these appts being sure of the KNOWLEDGE yourself. I even have carried my Dr. Vliet book with me many times, opened it to a page, laid it on his desk and said READ THIS RIGHT HERE! Don't give up. The estrace has helped my skin more than anything else so far! Hugs, Chelle P.S. - Ask those who use Estrace to write a brief description of how it's helped their vulvar pain and take those emails with you! Dr. Vliet's book is titled, "Screaming to be Heard, hormone connections women suspect and Doctors 'still' ignore." Long title....but GREAT book, in my opinion. Dr. 's book has a lot of good drawings in it...I think she does a good job of educating women in general about overall vaginal health & vulvar conditions. Dr. Vliet tends to focus on the whole woman. Taking into account diet, exercise, and especially hormone levels and how they can tie into so many of the painful chronic conditions that women suffer from, for example...Fibro, Vulvodynia, IC....she educates women on osteoporosis & Heart Disease, and much, much more. Another book out there about vulvar pain is called the Vulvodynia Survival Guide, by Glazer. I think it has good basic knowledge.
