Guest guest
Hi all, hope this finds everyone well, and gluten free! Im playing catch up a bit... been a busy week and had very little time for the computer. I seem to recall someone saying that GluteNO brand is available in the US??? I purchased a box of their "graham" crackers today, of course no graham, but they sure do taste like the "real" thing! Tomorrow Im going to bicycle to the Mini Mani (like Big Lots) and pick up some marshmellows and Fazer chocolate (along with the couple other silly things I need) and make me s'mores!!! I recall so many discussions here about missing graham crackers, especially with the summer camping season, so worth checking out! Few other things to share, Saturday, DH and I went to the city center for a break and people watch. Well, I was looking at all the folks with ice cream cones going by, and just HAD to have some ice cream! DH went over to the stand and came back with a cone.. I was really ticked! Turned out, it was a GF cone! I had myself an ice cream cone! The company that sells the ice cream (Pinguini) also makes a cone from rice flour that was just wonderful! Also had some really teriffic luck... they opened the dam that day to the Imatrankoski. (the river that runs thru the city) Normally its done in May, but our water table has been so low, they did it saturday! I took some pics should anyone care to take a look, http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/sixdogbutts/album?.dir=/cbe5re2 & .src=ph & .tok=phkC.CFBRR1UWDev We capped the evening having supper with our friends Tero and Anne at the Hotel Cumulus, Imatra. Another wonderful GF menu, and the food was FANTASTIC! We shared a liter of red wine, I ordered the Pepper Filet (250g) which was served with salad, (several GF salad dressings to choose from including french and a GF Bleu Cheese. Of course I had the bleu cheese!) Steamed baby vegetables, carrots, beans, asparagus and tiny potatos and onions, also a small ramekin size GF shepards pie! (about 300g) Because of the steak, my meal was a bit more pricey at €25, but still quite reasonable given all the food I got! And Dear Esther, dont give me raspberries, get on a plane and come visit! Bring an extra suitcase to fill with GF goodies tho!!! And, if you come in the summer, bring a sleeping mask, I watched the sun set and rise in a 2 minute time frame friday! Best!
