Guest guest
Have you looked at the scd listservs for info on crohn's? >>> " toowittybird " toowittybird@...> 7/23/2007 9:55 AM >>> I have been introducing the following supplements since about 10 days ago. Since this morning I have had a wretched stomach, with very tender, sore lower right gut (I have Crohn's with 2 surgeries - this is usually a symptom of inflammation in my case). Anything I eat (applesauce, sauteed chicken breasts, carrot & lime juice, crackers, cheese) is going right through me. I have had diarrhea at least 8-10 times since the morning. And my stomach burns like crazy! Is it the supplements? This was my morning dose spread over an hour or so before breakfast. L-Lysine (500mg , 1 pill) L-Arginine (500 mg , 2 pills) Glysine (500 mg , 1 pill) Molybdenum (1 ml) Zinc (30 mg , 1 pill) Selenium (Selenate & selenomethionine) (30 mg , 1 pill) Betaine Plus (650 mg (496 Betaine, 140 mg Pepsin), 1 pill) Glucosamine (250 mg , 1 pill) Glutamine (250 mg , 1 pill) Milk Thistle (1 pill) Co - Q 10 ( 30 mg , 1 pill) Cat's Claw ( 500 mg , 1 pill) Pro DHA ( 500 mg, 1 pill) Folinic Acid ( 2 pills) Tridophilus ( 2 pills) Magnesium, Potassium, Calcium as Oligoelements liquid - 30 cc I am worried that my Crohn's is in a flare. I am also due for my period any day now, but I usually have just a slightly sensitive stomach - nothing like this.

I have cut out some sulfur foods specially eggs because of the mercury issue - I notice if I do eat the eggs I get more d and it smells very sulfuric. Guest guest
One thing that is **possible is that you may have enough potassium. High potassium will lead to diarrhea when the levels get high enough (and the diarrhea leads to potassium loss which should correct the problem until another dose of potassium is taken). I'm just saying this is a possibility. What I would do is go back to the beginner SCD for a week or until the diarrhea settles. Be sure to drink water and SCD electrolyte drink. Then I would introduce the supplements one at a time starting with the most important. You may find that you will need to obtain supplements in a pure form (without additives) and there may be supplements that you won't be able to tolerate at first. Sorry to hear that you are having trouble. I hope you feel better soon. J > > I have been introducing the following supplements since about 10 days > ago. Guest guest
> Betaine Plus (650 mg (496 Betaine, 140 mg Pepsin), 1 pill) I would stop this one and see if it helps. Some of the others could possibly cause problems, too, but this is a lot of betaine if you have not used it before (at least it is for me). I can use half this much most of the time and it took months to work up to that. Zinc upsets me if I take on an empty stomach. You probably know this, but you may need to treat your gut very gently for awhile to recover. I have found slippery elm and DGL or licorice to be wonderful at soothing and healing my gut. --

Guest guest
It may be bacterial, some people have dysbiosis where the bacteria like sulphur and give off hydrogen sulphide which is that smell. May be worth looking into, this person has an issue with sulphur foods and there are a few website that talk about it http://www.canarys-eye-view.org/conditions/citrofreundii.html Phil > > > > Have you looked at the scd listservs for info on crohn's? > > > I am on the SCD since many years now. I would start with Vitamin C - to bowel tolerance, then reduce the dose slightly. Magnesium - citrate, malate or aspartate, or magnesium sulfate cream. Often people have to start with low doses of Mg spread over the day and gradually increase. Daily epsom salt baths will help too. Vitamin B complex - B50 or B100 split Zinc - I use citrate, there may be other forms that are suitable. Molybdenum The above are to be split in 4 doses spread over the day (mealtime and bedtime). The following are oils and can be taken once a day. Cod liver oil, fish oil, or flax oil, as a source of omega 3 oils. Vitamin E Start with those at the doses that you can tolerate.
