Guest guest
I read the book(s) and the method makes sense. It seems that it is a combination of DAN protocol, sensory integration therapy, using principals of ABA. I have not been to one of their centers but I remember someone on this list talking about their child using this method at their Miami center so maybe they will add some more insight. Has Anyone Read "Disconnected Kids" or Tried the methods? Hi, I have a parent that is questioning the validity of a method described in the book "Disconnected Kids" by Dr. Melillo. I have not read the book and am trying to reach out to anyone out there who has or has attempted to work with a child with the methods described in the book? Any input would be helpful. -- Regards, Ven Sequenzia, Jr. President Autism Society of America State of Florida Chapter
Guest guest
This therapy is designed to get the left and right hemisphere in the brain working together. Chiropractic Neurologist do this type of work (Delray Beach - Dr. Conde). In fact in Long Is. NY where they have another center, and there are Chiropractic Neurologists. There is no question there is a lot of merit to this therapy which also targets a lot of the sensory issues our kids have. However, as mentioned here this therapy is good in combination with biomedical autism. It doesn't stand well alone. I read the book(s) and the method makes sense. Guest guest
No matter how good something sounds.... Proceed with extreme caution when there is not any empirical evidence about a therapy. method. treatment. Check to see if there is any valid and reliable research that has been published in peer reviewed journals. If not and if something is really expensive then chances are it's suspect. My 2 cents. To: sList From: badillo9@...Date: Fri, 17 Aug 2012 11:23:39 -0400Subject: Re: Has Anyone Read "Disconnected Kids" or Tried the methods?
