Guest guest
Fatimah, I wasn't following the group last fall when you first posted, so I've just read through the whole thread for the first time. The one thing that really strikes me is wondering if you are getting enough EFA's... I didn't see you mention taking either flax oil or fish oil. If your diet is still low protein I would think that supplementing EFA's must be critical. Andy does suggest EFA's as the first thing to supplement and he recommends high doses. Other things that jumped out at me (while reading through the entire thread in one sitting) are these: - someone suggested testing for/considering Lyme disease - were you ever able to do that? - as I understand it, if the body burden of mercury is high and one takes ALA then one is at risk of redistributing to the brain since ALA crosses the BBB both ways. It was suggested that you try JUST the DMSA for a few rounds (or a few months) to be sure this wasn't happening. And in the book Andy mentions doing DMSA or DMPS alone for a few months before starting ALA, but it sounded like you started the ALA right from the beginning. I personally suffered a lot of worsening of cognitive problems from taking ALA as an anti-oxidant, not knowing it was a mercury chelator. The symptoms you describe for your sister and yourself sounds a lot like what I went through. So, if you didn't do a DMSA-only trial I would strongly suggest that you do so now. - there seemed to be a disconnect about mercury exposure with a lot of folks repeatedly suggesting hidden amalgam, but it sounded to me as though you were sure of your source of exposure - are you still as certain that there is no ongoing exposure? What you've been going through sounds dreadful and to see little or no progress must be discouraging, as well as frightening. The one thing that I constantly notice in this forum is that slow-and-steady has the most success. I wish I had more to offer - I hope things start improving for you and your sister. > > > > > > the ratio > > > of dmsa 50-100 mg and ala 50-200 mg > > > > There is no specific ratio, or range of ratios.
